after watching a few episodes of brainiac last night i have to say i like the mindless experimentation and blowing up stuff more than mythbusters

especially after brainiac got the leafblower hovercraft type thing to work and mythbusters sucked a big on that.

or maybe mythbusters is just starting to wear thin on me even though they added those cute girls

I really like the redhead on Mythbusters...
But both shows have their place. Brainiac is a bit more whimsical and silly.

I find that mythbusters spends an unnecessary amount of time busting certain myths. Furthermore, Mythbusters has not come to the correct conclusion in 100% of their experiments. The only way that show could possibly redeem itself, in my eyes, is if one of the "hotties" also had a physics PhD and could toss out some correct facts. Or, at the very least, can help these guys apply the scientific method a little more appropriately. Off the top of my head, "bullets don't create sparks" - wrong. "People don't get sucked out of jets after explosive decompression" - wrong. The show is enjoyable to watch, these guys obviously enjoy getting paid to have fun. But, to call their results 100% credible is quite a bit of a stretch.

Brainiac? What channel is that on?
I'm a Mythbusters fan right now. I'd so love to be able to do what they do. Just building all kinds of crazy stuff, and occasionally blowing things up. I rather enjoyed their tree cannon.

I do agree though - their thoroughness isn't evenly spread.

Brainiac is on G4, usually fairly late at night.

Those guys from Mythbusters look like Flamers.
Not that it really matters, but it is painfully obivious.

That's what I thought too, but Adam has kids and Jaimie (sp?) was in the military for many years. I think their affectations are just a side effect of living in San Francisco and working in show business.

Here's a scene from yesterday's Brainiac episode. Nice little summary of the show. QT7 required for playback.

Um, they were never trying to disprove that bullets don't create sparks. They were trying to disprove that just shooting a car's gas tank would cause it to explode in a huge ball of fire. And with the explosive decompression myth, they were trying to disprove that a bullet could be the cause of it, not that people couldn't get sucked out.
