LOL sounds like you need to smoke some MJ

stop using pain killers as that can cause what is known as rebound headache

Maybe try eating some. Can you even get medical edibles?

If it is an option, I've found that I have to sleep migraines away. I haven't had any in associate with a surgery so this may be completely useless, but what I find is that you shouldn't be looking at the computer screen. In fact, when I put myself in complete darkness and just lie down for a while, I generally recover much faster. Of course this isnt always an option if you have things you gotta do.

Try not to mix the tylenol and ibuprofen and drink a lot of water to help your liver and kidneys process the chemicals. I am glad you understand not to mix alcohol with these painkillers. Drinking alcohol with tylenol and ibuprofen is a quick way to develop liver damage.

Caffeine headaches are related to caffeine intake. If a person regularly consumes caffeine and then goes a day or two without or with significantly less than normal, a person may develop a caffeine withdrawal headache. Then a little caffeine fulfills the dependency, allowing the headache to go away.

This is true. Reduce your intake of painkillers. You can become dependent on them and suffer a painkiller withdrawal headache.

You need to determine the cause of your headache. Only then can you determine how to get rid of it. Sinus headaches are commonly due to cold air rushing past the head like an open car window on a 60F day (showing up 11-12 hours later). Sinus headaches can also be due to impaired sinus drainage through the nasal cavity. Moisture and heat helps, like allowing hot water from a shower splash over the forehead, breathing hot vapor from boiled water, or nasal spray to moisten the tissues in the nose.

Sometimes neck strain or a pinched nerve in the neck can create a headache at the top or back of the head.

Sometimes eye fatigue can cause a headache at the top of the head.

You mention cutting your head. Maybe a calcium vitamin may help rebuild any bone or tissue damage.

A cut to the head may have involved an impact that could have caused neck muscle, nerve, or tissue damage. It could also be in the sinus or temple regions and interfere with drainage. That is why I mentioned other possibilities, and then ninja-edited the calcium vitamin at the end.

If we are to help more, we need to know more about the injury involving his head getting cut open, including the location on his head and the cause and extent of the injury.

Other than that, you may want to have a scan!

Altering your blood pressure may help to ease the pain. What I mean by this is you can change the pressure of the blood being supplied to the head by keeping your head up and not laying down, or laying down but keeping the upper body elevated. When I had migraines this worked great. I found that even keeping a leg on the floor when laying bed made a difference.

Something cold over the area might also help, don't use anything hot because heat can cause bacteria to grow and you don't want an infection.

Negatory. Caffeine works for headaches because it's a vasoconstrictor. To you non-medical folks, it constricts your cranial blood vessels. This is helpful since migraines are caused by vasodilation. That's why several headache medications come with caffeine.

All stimulants will have to vasoconstriction effect. Conversely, depressants such as alcohol and marijuana are vasodilators, and are liable to worsen symptoms.

THUNDERCLAP HEADACHE?

I would rather have someone saw off a finger with a dull rusty knife than ever go through a thunderclap type of headache. There are 3 or 4 days of my life I can barely remember. I vaguely remember the doctor's office, I remember being whisked across the parking lot in a wheelchair to the hospital for an emergency CT scan or something. I remember nothing else. On a 1 to 10 scale of pain, that was a 10. Nothing else in my life has exceeded a 4, unless it's a logarithmic scale.
