Wow, this is disturbing to me. She is in her 20's, some of my friends and I took her and her friends out on dates, she was completely normal, we played games and everything...

Its really crazy how something like this can happen, I feel so helpless. If you could, please keep her in your thoughts/prayers.

Small update:
AFAIK, she has survived the surgery and I've been told the doctors say the odds look good for her.

Here is what happened to get her into the hospital.

She was taking a dancing class. She got a couple of headaches while she was with her dance partner, She decided to sit down. Her partner let her rest for a while and left. She passed out, and someone else found her fairly soon after she did. They asked her if she knew her name, she told them her sisters name. They asked her if she knew what time it was, she told them the correct time and passed out again. They rushed her to the hospital where they life-flighted her to a specialist nearby.

This all happened within the hour that she passed out.

She went into surgery, and I'm told it was a bit touch-and-go for the first few moments of it, but not she seems to be doing well. (she was still in surgery when I heard this report.)

I haven't heard anything else so far.

🙁

I went to HS with a girl who had the same thing- was playing soccer, had a terrible headache->ER->nearly died->last I saw she was unable to walk w/out a significant limp, her speach is impaired and I think she lost a lot of her memory...really sad.

I hope your friend has a quick recovery

A friend of mine at Duke medical school had a vertebral artery dissection and a massive stroke. Was in teh ICU for about 3 weeks and apparently can't talk or walk very well right now. They expect her to make a full recovery but it's gonna take over 2 years to get back to 100%. Pretty sad. It all happened on her birthday weekend, turning 24. Sad.

Very sad how such things happen so suddenly and bring an end to an individual. My younger sister went from being like any other normal person to what appears to be a vegetable in one day. My condolences.

This is why I don't want to do my homework. I'm afraid if I think too hard something might pop...

Sorry to hear that. I scares me too. I had a friend die of this last year. He was on a cruise with his girlfriend and just died. I chatted with him the day before he left for the cruise and was waiting for him to come back to ask him about the fun he had when another friend told me the news.

Life is seriously a crapshoot. If you can make it to 85 without cancer/stroke/heart attack/car accident you are one of the lucky ones.

I don't mean to derail the thread but your post made me curious of there is a table of survival percentiles by age. Like if you make it to 95 you're in the 99th percentile.

🙁 After reading that fact sheet, I'm scared that one of my bad headaches I've been getting more and more frequently is going to turn into something serious. My prayers go out to your friend.

It happened to a neighbor of mine a few years ago. His speech slurred and areas went numb. Fortunately there was a doctor across the street that he could visit immediately, who then drove him to the hospital where he was fairly quickly prepped for brain surgery. Timely treatment is critical.

A high school friend's cousin died from a aneurysm. It was absolutely devastating to everyone.

I had a friend die at 14 from a congenital heart defect. Yeah it's a different thing, but similar in circumstance that it just happened all of a sudden and he was gone.

My aunt died from an aneurysm a few years or so ago. It's crazy how they're fine one day then gone the next. I hope nothing but the best for your friend.

its unfortunatel because i believe they now have a test for these. they are quite common and everyone should be tested.

My mom lost her mother to this when she was 15. It's great that now there are treatments and that she has a chance to recover.

I hope she is back to being herself soon
