Braid; Feel like an idiot in 30 minutes flat.

Has anyone here actually managed to beat this game? I have been playing for about 30 minutes and I already feel like an idiot. I know this game is supposed to be challenging, but seriously WTF. Nothing is explained.

You start the game in world 2. What gives with that? What happened to world 1? Did I miss something? I see some puzzle pieces that I can't seem to get to. Am I supposed to get to them or do I have to come back and get them later on once I have certain abilities? Does this game even have special abilities? You can manipulate time, but some objects are immune to manipulation? K... would have been nice if that was explained... What are these arrow keys next to my character? Oh; I tap them to fast forward or rewind time. Hmm... you'd think that could be all explained in the controls section, but nooo... all you get it "arrow keys to move, press space to jump." How useless...

I'm all for games doing less handholding, but this is just a little ridiculous... Seems like the creator has made the game purposely obtuse to make it seem more artsy and "deep," but ultimately I just find it annoying.

Yes I just checked out the walkthrough for world 2. And then I just feel like a bigger idiot because the solutions are pointed out right in front of me, and of course at that point it feels like it should have been obvious all along. IMO if you have to use a FAQ to get through a puzzle game there isn't much point in playing at all. Might as well just watch the walk through videos from start to finish on youtube.

I feel the exact same way, the walk through is basically telling you exactly what to do. And if I don't watch the walk through i have no clue what to do. However, if i watch it, there is no point in me playing lol.

Yup. Some people aren't puzzle game material. Part of the fun is figuring out what the time power does in every world.

I'm sure that's the case. I'm sure if I sat there long enough I would eventually figure it out. I will admit I'm not really into puzzle games, but I'm not exactly dumb as a brick either. I probably just don't have enough patients for this type of game.

For me the hardest part was at the beginning. Watched some Youtube videos, got the hang of it, and progressed a while before I eventually had to get some more help. Oh well.

I beat it a few years ago, I had to look up how to get two or three puzzle pieces I think but I managed the rest on my own. Admittedly some parts took me quite a few tries to get the timing right or to figure out a working method, but I didn't have an obscene amount of trouble. Enjoyable game, it might have been long ago enough to be worth playing again now.

yeah, I got stuck in about 20 minutes, tried to pay through it for another 20 minutes, then stopped playing. That was several months ago and now I see it on my Steam list mocking me every time I fire up Steam.

I didn't have much trouble figuring out what you needed to do. The game did an ok job of explaining the controls and mechanics as you progressed. I ended up giving up on the game because I could never time my jumps correctly. I suck at platformers, but I bought it because reviews suggest the rewind time mechanic made it easier, but in fact it was just one more thing you had to time correctly.

I can't say I feel bad about it sitting on my list of Steam games unininstalled though. I've never played game that oozed more pretentious BS.
