Weber Performer Premium 22" charcoal grill. $400 on Amazon. Was on clearance for $88 at my local Home Depot. I really like the built-in cart and table. It's nice upgrade from my old Weber kettle.

To celebrate I'm smoking 30 lbs of meat on the Big Kamado Joe. 12 lbs of beef short ribs, 8 lbs of pork rib tips, and 10 lbs of pork shoulder.

It was tight and I had to fold the rib tips to get it all in there but it worked out.

I really should take the time to learn about smoking. Looks real good, OP.

:p Smoking is real easy once you learn the basics. With the all the gadgets and technology today, smoking is pretty much set and forget it type of cooking. You can get something like pellet grill or smoker and it's like operating an oven. Turn the dial to the temperature you want to cook at and put in your food and then wait til the temp probe tells you the food is done and remove the food. If you can use an oven, you can cook and smoke with pellet grill. I bought a pellet smoker like a month ago but it's still in the box in my garage.

:D I'm smoking and not grilling the meat. Weber Performer is great at grilling but not smoking. Performer is way too small to smoke 30 pounds of meat. It has 22" grate but if I use it for smoking, I lose like 1/2 of the usable cooking grate area. The Big Joe has 24" grate and I can use full 24" since it has ceramic heat deflectors that shield the direct charcoal fire. But even with the Big Joe I barely got all the meats to fit in there. Some of the meats had to touch. Normally I would've fired up second smoker like my Weber Smokey Mountain to cook the pork rib tips but it was raining today and WSM can't cook in the rain. The Big Joe can cook in pretty much any weather even in the rain.

The Pit Boss Copperhead pellet smoker could've smoked 30 lbs of meat in its sleep. I could probably easily fit over 100 pounds of meat in the Copperhead smoker but you can't use pellet smoker in the rain. Rain and pellet grill is big no-no.

That was along the lines of what I was thinking. "I bought a thing! I am going to celebrate by not using it at all!"

That's one hell of a clearance price. I paid something like $250 for mine a few years ago.
There were some good clearance deals this year. I also picked up Pit Boss Copperhead pellet cooker for $109 and that's like $500 cooker normally. Pellet cooking is new to me so I'm excited to give that a go.

The Weber Performer is real nice and well made. Feels real solid. I was pleasantly surprised it included Weber charcoal baskets. Everyone with charcoal grill should have charcoal chimney and Weber charcoal basket. Those are two must accessories IMO.

That's a steal for sure! My BIL owns a shop in a big tenant building and one of his neighbors was a weber distributor. He was moving locations so everything he had he just wanted to get rid of because weber was going to be giving him more stuff. We got around $400 worth of stuff for around $60. Mostly accessories, ,gloves, covers, replacement grills, brushes etc. Perfect xmas or b-day gifts for guys. I want to get into smoking, but don't have the means to get a smoker or anything right now. At $100 I would've jumped on it too though!

Nice! I got my first Weber last year and really enjoyed it. I haven't used it in months just because it's cold as shit outside though.

Killer deal. I've longed for one of those exact same models with the table built in. At that price it's a steal to say the least. I hate having a separate table. But, I can not give up my current Weber:

I plan on using the Pit Boss pellet smoker for homemade beef jerky, bacon, sausages, cheese, and fish. It has 5 cooking racks so I should be able to fit plenty of beef slices for jerky. And the temperature gauge goes down to 150 F so I should be able to cold smoke as well. I have Excalibur 9 tray electric dehydrator which does great job for jerky, fruits, and veggies but it can't add smoke. This Pit Boss pellet smoker should be able to do it all.

What kind of Weber? 22" Charcoal kettle? I use mine year round. Rain is the only thing that can keep me from using it.

My current kettle is the exact same one as yours except mine is black.

I had mine for like 20 years. It won't die. I keep mine uncovered and use it all the time hoping it will die. I have a spare one I bought last year on clearance for $35 still sitting in the garage. I actually bought four additional Weber kettles last year but gave away three and kept one as future replacement. Best grill ever.

Yeah. I've had mine for 20 years now, used 2-3 times per week on average year round (all 4 months in WI for that matter) While it's dirty, it's still beyond solid and likely will never die. I'd replace it for the same one you just got, but being the Simpsons, I simply can't.

I like the retro colors of yours. Has a 50s vibe to it.

Nah I got one of these:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Weber-G...-with-Built-In-Thermometer-61010001/300159098

I prefer gas to charcoal for convenience.
The Weber Genesis are nice gas grills even though it's now made in China instead of USA. But Weber now offers 10 year warranty on all parts so I guess they're confident the Chinese made grills will last. I have older Weber Genesis S-330 propane grill which I haven't used in like 2 years. My Weber Genesis is one of the last ones that was still made in the USA with USA stainless steel.
