My 12 year old daughter broke boards in karate on Saturday... The same kid who has 1st seat bassoon in band, & is going to a 3 week long residential math summer camp for gifted kids. Maybe that $20K+ I spent getting custody of her was a good idea.

(I'm headed back to court next month to finalize the 4 year long international battle, including a 3 day stay in jail for my ex wife for contempt; final orders include jewels like: Ex wife cannot contact child @ school or during educational programs like the math camp, no visitation outside of the county, wife must surrender her passport @ the beginning of visitation, bump the child support up to $250/month from $165.)

:D

Can I ask what made you decide to have a child with this psychopath in the first place?

Everyone's allowed a bad "starter marriage" in TX, plus we evidently generated a little hybrid vigor in her conception, I couldn't even pass HS algebra... some kind of mental block about not giving a sh*t about what X=

Started the thread to brag about kiddo, then remembered all the crap I've gone through to give her some kind of life.

The surrender of wife's passport was lawyer's idea & I hope the judge likes it, the lawyer thinks it'll fly, the child support is nice, but doesn't come close to covering the $20K (I'll collect $18K if she pays over the next 6 years) I've spent in court or the day to day expenses of raising a child.

Her last trick was to send $ drawn on her bank in GB pounds, my bank refuses to cash them without a $45 surcharge...

Congratulations on your daughter's achievements.

Oh, and your situation proves that yes, the system works!! Men aren't always the ones that get screwed in divorce court!!

I am not being sarcastic, I am glad to see the man not be the one who has to give up custody and give all his money and posessions to the ex-wife.

Unfortunately, the guy still gets screwed in family court, only 1% of men in Texas are awarded custody of children under the age of 10, generally custody in TX is only given to fathers when all the children are over the age of 10 (and generally, the child must ask the courts for the custody change), and a lot of damage can be done in that time...

I cannot believe that only 1% of men in Texas are as good as or better parents than women.

Can I get her number in 6 years?
I'd prefer you wait for about 12 years, Amish, and hopefully you'll be @ the back of a long line.;)

Wait a second. People from overseas have to pay support for kids in other countries? How does that work?

People from overseas have to pay support for kids in other countries?

My ex is looney tunes, met a guy on the net in a Yahoo UK chat room, she was born & raised in TX, but decided to try to leave the U.S. with our kid, I got a restraining order & was awarded temporary custody for the last 4 years; she moved to England, makes $25,000/year, they don't even own a car & she hasn't seen our child for 1.5 years now, (the last time she came to the states, I had her put in jail for non-payment of child support).

She married the guy, & he's just as nuts as she is.

My favorite quote from him was: "You have guns in your house, and when I tell the judge that, he'll award custody to us."

Response: "Graham, this is Texas, judges are given free concealed carry permits that cost the rest of us $150, & any judge in Texas prob has more guns in his house than I do."

The shrinks I work with suspect she's an untreated bipolar... I tried to get her into therapy/evaluated, but my attempt precipitated our final break-up.

Let us know when you're ready to hook her up to ATOT. We'll clean up our (my) act and show her the ropes.

As she ages, she's going to need a mother figure! I hope someone is there to help her with things that you cannot. If she really was a monster, I'm sure you're doing the right thing. I just hope there are no regrets for your daughter's sake.
