I got an email for a SC2 beta invitation and SC2 is in my bnet account, but sign in through SC2 isn't working. guessing I have to use Blizzard's SC2 downloader since my SC2 install was from a third party site.

Make a battle.net account and download the system analyzer thing for beta.

It says I'm not eligible to do the beta analyzer because I don't have any Blizzard games installed. Anyone else deal with this?

You have to own a Blizzard game and have it registered on battle.net I think...

so i go to log into battle.net website and it says:

Please activate the Battle.net Authenticator product attached to this account, and enter the six-digit digital code that it generates.

I have no idea wtf it is talking about...

I haven't logged into battle.net for a long time and the last time I was there, it worked fine.

There are usually paths that don't have rocks in them. The paths with rocks are usually either a really short path between bases or a path to an alternate resource spot.

Only the Novice version of the certain maps have their entrance blocked off with stuff. Prevents noobs from rushing each other early in the game and ending it in 3 minutes.

I NEVER thought this would happen as I'm an old school gamer who hasn't upgraded his PC in ages (they have my spec report)

This just showed up in my gmail..... Let's see how pathetic this game runs on my lame ass 8500GT with old school dual-coal xeon processor. Downloading client now (1.6 gig)

StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™ Beta Test Invitation

Congratulations! You’ve been selected to participate in the beta test of StarCraft® II: Wings of Liberty™.

As a beta test participant, you’ll have the chance to experience the multiplayer gameplay of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty and explore the social-networking, matchmaking, and other new features of the revamped Battle.net® online-gaming service. Throughout the StarCraft II beta, you’ll be able to take part in cooperative and competitive battles as the terrans, protoss, and zerg -- and at the same time, you’ll be helping us test the stability of the Battle.net service and fine-tune the game balance prior to launch. We look forward to hearing your feedback, and we’ll see you on Battle.net!

Getting Started:

1. Get the Installer - Log in to your Battle.net account. In your list of games, click the “Manage Game” button under the StarCraft II beta image to download the installer.

2. Install the StarCraft II Beta - Once you’ve downloaded the installer, run it and follow the directions to install the beta client on your machine. Note that your participation in the StarCraft II beta test is governed by a Beta Test Agreement that you are required to accept before you can install the beta client.

3. Run the Game & Log in to Battle.net - After the game installs, the launcher interface should automatically appear on your screen. Log in with your Battle.net account and you’ll be able to begin playing. You can launch the client at any time by clicking the desktop shortcut or by going to the Windows® Start Menu.

Any questions? Check out the FAQ.

Please retain this email for your records. If you experience any issues setting up your Battle.net account, please contact Blizzard Entertainment Account Services via webform at https://us.blizzard.com/support/webf...l?locale=en_US or email at beta.accountsupport@us.battle.net.

Sending Feedback:

Once you’ve had a chance to play, we want to hear your thoughts! Please share your feedback by posting on our StarCraft II Beta Forums. The game is still a work in progress, and one of the purposes of the beta test is to identify any issues and improve the player experience before the game ships. We encourage you to report any in-game issues you experience via these forums.

Troubleshooting:

If you run into any difficulties installing the StarCraft II beta client, please contact Blizzard Entertainment technical support either by posting on the appropriate forum at http://forums.battle.net/board.html?...52527&sid=5000, via webform at https://us.blizzard.com/support/webf...l?locale=en_US, or by email at beta.techsupport@us.battle.net.

** IMPORTANT ** To avoid graphical bugs and other technical issues, please ensure your video card drivers are up-to-date.

Enjoy the game!

I think the weaker the hardware used to opt in with, the higher the chance to get into beta.

I got into Beta Sunday morning but didn't get to play until yesterday evening. Personally, I don't know what to think about the game. It's not amazing looking. It's not amazing flow wise. It's not even amazing strategy wise. As someone who has played over 5000 games of Warcraft 3 and probably over 2000 games of Starcraft, I didn't really see it as the jump in games that I had hoped for. Instead I see it as Prettier SC1.

In Warcraft Three most of your focus is on a group of perhaps 12 units and heroes. You walk around with these groups and attack creeps when you aren't attacking your opponent. If you get better you can learn to deviate a little from this and do multiple things at the same time, but really the focus is on one area at a time in games.

In Starcraft 2 I feel like I'm creating a net for my opponent. I harass him from behind, I expo, I hit him with 3 units in the front. I make him chase my scout for 2 minutes. I do all these things at once. This is exactly the same thing I did in the original. It's almost as if nothing has changed.

So for the purists out there who still go back to the original when they can I believe that this is a game you will love. For me, I will enjoy the new wave of competition but the battles hold little interest. Micro is important but it is not critical like it was with Warcraft 3. I find myself not watching battles at times to work on my economy or to expo check. I rarely if ever looked away in W3...

I doubt it is fair to compare this game to Warcraft. They are designed differently even if the commands are the same. The game is fun though, and its a blast to shut down everything your opponent tries to do. I just hope I am able to dive into this game the same way I did the original and W3.
