I'm very confused at this. If they didn't have a word for "hangover" and the word in French would translate to "very bad trip" or something similar, they would just say it in French. But no, she says "very bad trip" in English. So why bother changing the title into something that's not your language anyway if you're just going to say the English words? Why can't they say "hangover" in English vs. "very bad trip", also in English?

Very Bad Trip makes much more sense as the name for the movie(s)... Any chance that Warner Bros/Legendary Pictures didnt was scared of the potential box office impact of a direct drug reference in the title? Silly as it is, "hangover" is not nearly as tabboo...

And yes, I realize, that much like putting a skull and death warnings on cigarettes will make some people want to smoke more... but that's not the point. Studios only think in terms of mass appeal.

For some reason or other the local distributor decides that a particular title would draw in more people. For example, in Taiwan, all Arnie movies were prefixed with "devil". Like people can't tell it's Arnie or something.
