braces questions

I still don't understand how braces work, do they do most of the tightening in the first few days or do they work throughout the 6 weeks? Also my back molars where the wire gets tightened seems loose when I push it with my nail it bends in, is it supposed to be like that? It was like that since day one... Help metal mouths'.

It's a slow gradual process, and iirc, the wire being able to flex is normal. You can double check by calling your orthodontist. Most people would have them on for a period of 2 years or so, you're only required to wear them for 6 weeks?

what? I actually don't smile because I don't have one of those Tom Welling crest shaped smiles.

No I meant that the tightening is once every 6 weeks.

I wore braces for 5 years. I moved while wearing my retainer and never went to a orthodontist again. After 5 years of wearing braces the only thing I have to show for it is crooked bottom teeth.

The funny thing is, after I got my braces removed my teeth were perfectly straight. The orthodontist put in a permanent bottom retainer on the bottom part of my teeth and that made my teeth crooked again.

Get clear retainers.

I dont know why they put the permanent retainer on my bottom teeth. My bottom teeth were perfectly straight when my braces were removed. Within a month that permanent retainer made my bottom teeth crooked again. I only had a removable retainer for my top teeth and so my top teeth are still straight to this day.

I am very mad at that permanent retainer they put in my bottom teeth. To bad I moved to.

too bad I was considering that when it was all said and done.

My bottom teeth haven't moved with a permanent retainer. Flossing is kind of a pain the ass though. I think I would have rather just gotten a normal retainer for the bottom teeth, because at this point I only wear the one for my upper teeth overnight about once a week.
