boys don't cry

just saw this movie for the first time. it took a me a few years to get up the guts, cause i knew it would be tough to watch.

well all i can say is it's one of the best movies i've ever seen and i've seen thousands and thousands of movies. but it was also one of the hardest movies to watch i've ever seen. i felt like someone kicked the sh!t out of me afterwards.

anyone else like/not like this movie?

I can see this. For me, Magnolia was like this. It seemed like a very well made movie but it was extremely depressing. I like it because it is quality, not because it entertained me and made me feel good.

Even though it was a very good movie, I do not want to see it again. It just made me feel like crap when seeing it. I don't want to feel bad like that if I can help it.

google has pics, nsfw hah🙂

that being said, i didn't really care for the movie. it did ruin swank for me, she now seems a tad manly whenever i see her.

Caroline Cossey was born on August 31, 1954 and attended school in Norfolk, England. At the age of 13 she came to realized that she was unlike other boys and, by the age of 15 or 16, she understood that, although she had male external genitalia, she was female. In July 1972 she abandoned her male names and assumed the name of Caroline, a change which she confirmed by deed poll in March 1973.

Since July 1972 she was known under that name for all purposes, dressed as a woman and adopted a female role. She left home and worked as a showgirl in London and Paris. In December 1974, having had previously taken hormones and had an operation for breast augmentation, she underwent SRS at the Charing Cross Hospital in London. In 1976 she was issued with a United Kingdom passport as a female.

I don't get it.

Obviously... yet, you have an opinion. Why?

People do not get to choose their gender, they are what they are.

There are many birth defects. Why is it so hard to believe that sexual identity may be one of them?

We have children born with BOTH sex organs. Why not a child born with the incorrect sexual organs?

i don't think i will ever have the heart to watch this movie. so i haven't.

i was mildly interested to watch the movie when it came out, but at the same time the movie was being promoted, i accidentally watched the documentary of the true story of Brandon Teena in Dateline (or Primetime, or 20/20, something like that), and storyline (especially the ending) just completely broke my heart and got me depressed for a while.

i actually don't have anything against dramatic, non-happy ending, quality movie, but i guess the fact that it got me that this terrible thing really happened to the guy somehow made me not want to watch the movie anymore.
