Boycott Spencer Gifts - Racist "Asian" Shirts Petition

To Spencer Gifts:

You obviously learned nothing from the Abercrombie & Fitch debacle. We are appalled and disgusted by your line of ?Asian-themed? t-shirts featuring stereotyped Asian caricatures and offensive text. The shirt that reads ?SUK MAI COCK POULTRY FARM? is an obvious mockery of the Chinese language and sophomoric jab at Asians and their supposed difficulty with English spelling and comprehension. The shirt featuring the likeness of Buddha, which reads ?I MAY BE FAT BUT MY COCK IS HUGE,? demonstrates blatant disrespect for a religious deity and the religion?s followers. One need only replace the image of Buddha with that of Jesus Christ and swap ?fat? with ?skinny? to see how offensive this would be to the Christian majority. Finally, the shirt that reads ?HANG OUT WITH YOUR WANG OUT? features a caricature of a slanted-eyed, buck-toothed Chinese man wearing a queue and rice paddy hat and childishly holding his penis. This image is demeaning and painfully reminiscent of racist images in popular culture in the early 1900s.

Whether you intended to offend or to be funny and irreverent is not the issue. The issue is that the shirts are plainly offensive. Images like those on shirts sold by Spencer Gifts serve to promote the misleading notion that Asians are exotic foreigners to be insulted and ridiculed without consequence.

The shirts are not funny, innovative, novel, or edgy. They are racist and degrading and we demand an official public apology and a recall of the aforementioned shirts. Until then, we vow to boycott Spencer Online and all Spencer Gifts stores and encourage others to do the same.

How did you come to be hanging out in Spencer Gifts to begin with to even notice the shirts, considering their target audience is 9-12 year olds?

Now I feel embarrassed, I laughed at 2 out of 3 of those shirts.
 
Grow a thicker skin. Besides, we all know that the Chinese will own America in about 20 years, then we'll have shirts making fun of Americans.

I find the petition funny, its supposed to oppose racism but there are racist comments towards whites on the petition. I think its really funny how one person says that asians are known as being smarter and better looking, something like this can not be proven nor will it ever be. I do agree that the shirst are slightly offensive, but I do have to admit that I chuckled at a few. But what I am really laughing at is the blatent stupidity of the people that signed your petition, "White people suck." "Asians are smarter, and better looking." It even goes as far as to make a comment about "Watermelon eating africans, and whisky drinking Irishman."

I don't know whats worse, the shirts or the petition.

its because nobody minds being sterotyped unless its a negative one. when was the last time you heard an italian say "just because i'm italian people assume i'm a great cook, its so unfair" or a jew say "just because i'm jewish people assume i have an excellent credit rating, its so unfair"

I would support them more for offering the shirts myself. People need to grow a thicker skin and stop all the whiney PC bullsh!t and the cries of racism all the damned time. I really don't care anymore myself.

got a link for the "get rid of holier-than-thou idiots who can't take a joke in their life" petition?

Why isn't there an endless uproar about those posters with "whitey" all over them recommending various different drugs? Why are we not getting overly sensitive about that? While you're at it, you should write a peition to God for making the sun so bright.

I agree, and who even goes to spencer's? I've only been there one time and it was like 10 years ago.
 
There are better jokes out there. I find it pretty hilarious that Specer needs this kind of products to make money. Are we in a shortage of fat chicks and poop?

Truth is that those who are racists probably don't even have the balls to wear a t-shirt like this. So go buy it and wear it my friends.

One more note, to whoever wrote "people need to stop the PC whining....": Hello?! Exactly about most of your posts in every forum.
 
I don't have a problem with boycotting spencer's gifts. I've been doing it my whole life. I'm sympathetic on this issue though.
 
Not one of the more important things in life. I am a white, male, German decent, atheist; and would not be offended if they made fun of any of those attributes on a t-shirt. I may or may not think it is funny, but otherwise, so what?
 
I've never been to Spencer Gifts but I think I'll go buy a few shirts to make up for the tards that get offended by stuff like this.

I think I'll skip that Buddha shirt though. It just doesn't make since. Everyone knows asian have small cocks.........
