Apparently, this high school only has a girls bowling team, not a boys. So this senior wants to join it. But officials want to suspend him if he even shows up for tryouts. WTF? In the article, this high school forbids boys from joining a girl's team, but (unless an opportunity is provided) girls are allowed to join boy's teams. Equality? If women want to be treated equal, they should be held to the same rules they create for men. Just like that Pro golfer who's joining the women's league to protest men having to admit women into their clubs and tournaments.

Question: Do the girls have a problem with it or just the officials?

paraphrase from George Carlin's latest: "Life is worth losing"

Men are four times more likely to commit suicide than women. Even though women attempt it more. So men are better at it. That's something you gals outta be working on. Well, if you want true equality, you'll have to start taking your lives in greater numbers.

To oppose this is idiotic.

Women playing a sport with men is considered a step up in talent. Michelle Wie playing against PGA golfers is a test of her talent, and to her credit she fared well.

Men playing sports in women's leagues is another story altogether. Men are, by and large, stronger than women, and in most sports, it's an unfair advantage.

Get over this, it's a non-story. Tell the kid to get a life and play something else, or be a one-man bowling team.

Then the school should have a boys bowling team.

If a man isn't good enough to compete in the men's league he should get to compete in the women's league.

Has nothing to do with a physical advantage but equality. Do you think a girl playing on a football team is doing it because she wants to step up her game?

No, its because she wants to play football.

In middle school we had a girl on our football team (15+ years ago)
And in highschool they had a girl kicker on the JV team.

If the school doesn't offer a boys team then they should let him compete.

For some sports I can see a seperation, men are physically faster and stronger, but for sports like bowling, if you look at the Pro's, the women get 300's just as often as the men do.

I often wondered why on ESPN they show billiard championships, yet have seperate men and women division, billards IMO is a lot like competitive marksmanship, in which the females often beat the males. Strength or aggresiveness wont help you, its more focused concentration and cool-handedness, same as in billiards.

women just handle the balls and shafts better than men

heh, havent heard that joke before /sarcasm

I've often heard that the women rifle experts are good partly because they typically have large breasts, and that helps them stabilize the rifle better.

This is BS, but there's no reason to expect male bowlers to be better than female ones; why should there be two leagues to begin with?

Great thinking, zendari. Has it occurred to you that there are very good reasons for female only sports competition>

In general, males are physically bigger and stronger than females, and typically, they outperform females. A few very gifted females may be able to compete on a par with males. Michelle Wie is a good example. She's 6' tall, 150 lbs., 16 years old, and she drives the ball further than most guys.

I see no problem with allowing females to enter any competition where they can compete on at the level of males.

The opposite is not necessarily a viable condition. Allowing all males to enter events where their physical size and strength would give them an advantage that would deprive almost all females of any place to compete, at all.

It has nothing to do with "feminists." It has everything to do with providing fair competion for everyone, especially in a scholastic environment.

So does your assessment apply to bowling?

Wie or any other female should not get to compete with males if men aren't allowed to do the same. I don't care about the competing on the same level bullsh1t. If a chick has a d1ck, then she can compete with the men. It's complete and utter bullsh1t to allow a female to participate in football but not allow a male to join the softball team. Keep them separate, and get over the PC bullsh1t.
