unless it was a balloon filled with liquid nitro that splattered all over his 110 degree windshield, i don't think the temperature was responsible.
i've only seen temperature crack windshields once when the heater was turned on full blast on a freezing jersey winter night.

OK, how much does a baseball weigh? I don't honestly know, but I'd have a hard time believing it was more than a water balloon of equal size. A MLB pitcher can throw a baseball at 100 mph. Would you believe that could break a windshield? How about a baseball thrown at 50 mph?

That much mass moving at any decent speed is a lot of energy.

unless that bird was a duck or something it had no real mass just a lot of feathers...and if it was flying in the direction the car was moving then it had even less of an impact
