Over the past few months I've been in contact with girl I work with who resides at another site. I had never seen her in person, but we consistantly chatted via phone, Sametime connect, e-mail, etc. By the tone of her voice and her sparky personality, I envisioned a cute little 23 year old blonde. We even had a few things in common, and she would always call me first instead of my co-workers whenever she had questions regarding an issue in my department.

So, last week I found a new job with better pay, closer to home, interesting work, etc. So I put in my two weeks and let this girl know I was leaving. As soon as I did, she told me she would come in on Friday (today) and at least say hi and goodbye (me thinking something might come out of this). So she calls me an hour ago and told me to meet her in the lobby and we'll chit-chat for a few.

So I go into the lobby and I'm getting butterfly's in my stomach thinking of what to say to her, and how we may be able to see each other again, etc. Sure enough she walks through the door and I do a double take...... I thought to myself, NO way is that her!!!

She ended up being at least 10 years my elder, a bit on the heavier side, and without sounding like a cynical @ss, she was wearing a wedding ring to boot. My heart sank....it was like someone saying you've won the lottery, only to find out you were a number off.

Now keep in mind, I already have a g/f, but things just aren't working out and I guess I was looking for a new opportunity.

Anyway, I guess it serves me right trying to hunt for a new g/f while I already have one, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. Thanks for hearing me out.

/end rant

Cliffs:
Chatted with, but never met girl from work (she works at another site).
Found a new job so she went out of her way to meet before I left.
Expecting a single, hot blonde as a prospect for a new g/f.
Didn't find what I was expecting.
Disappointment ensued.

Well, at least it wasn't a 300 lb, 40 year old man who lives in his mom's basement.

Sametime Connect? Who uses that program? Do you work for GE? I know they use it.

Well, how can he ask for a pic when it was a work relation, just being friendly with open possibility... hard to say 'send me a picture with the support document'.

ALWAYS ask for :camera:'s!

Believe me I would have, but that wouldn't be the most professional thing to ask of somebody while most of the time you're just talking business.

Despite the wedding ring, I got the impression she was looking for something a little more then a friendship as well.

No, not GE, I'd rather not say. One of the BIG pharmacuetical companies.

at least you know now... as does she. BTW, its her 10 extra years that told her to at least meet you so that you both know one way or the other...

no regrets this way.

You should have asked for pic first.

or at least her age

I told her my age once, and she said "you make me feel old", but you know you can't take that comment seriously. I know 25 year old girls that say that all the time.

Hankerton I feel your pain, man! I've worked several call center jobs and others where I talked to people in our organization that I later met and a huge percentage of the time they were nothing like I envisioned and ooogly to boot. Only a few times were they as hot as I believed.
