I just got home and guess who followed me in.. my brother.

Turns out the swaying motion I felt when I drove his car on Friday night was what I thought it was. While going to work he heard a loud "flap flap flap" and then after a while it stopped.. couldnt figure it out. Got to work and asked his coworkers.. they couldnt see anything wrong.. they go for lunch and it again goes. They look at the tyre.. teh damn "tyre tread" fell off.

They put a spare on and now he has to get 2 more new tyres...

Damn that was close.. on a BMW with rear wheel drive had the tyre seperated with a car full of people it would have immediately spun around.

All this hot weather does this to tyres.

TGG

PS: When did "f a p" become a banned word? It said I used a banned word.

Does he still have warranty on the tires? If so he can probably get them replaced for free...

We dont know which tyre went bad. The car has gone to sears to see about the warrenty and stuff. We had 2 new tyres put in 2000. Those were out back. But since then I dont know. These are Michelin tyres. I think my brother just might put all 4 new tyres in there. After all the 2 tyres that we did put in there are quite a bit used by now.

I will keep you guys updated on it.

This BMW is an awesome car. Its been very well maintained.. its a tad bit underpowered buts neutral handling is the best.. I mean you can put it where you want it.. its awesome.

No need to worry about losing control with a blowout unless you were taking a turn at high speed, I had the right rear tire blow at 85mph on i95 south a few years ago, just slowly pulled to the side and changed it.

Blow out is fine. I had a blow out on the front right wheel of the tercel.. it was stable as ever and all I did was shift to 3rd and pull it to teh side to change the tyre. A sudden tread seperation can cause an unstable rocking motion before you lose control. Mind you I was wondering on friday night why teh damn car was moving left and right around my fav turn.. I mean had it blown the car would have swung around and bit me.

To me a blowout and losing the tread are the same thing, when it happened to me it sounded like someone was pounding on the back of my car with a sledge hammer.

I think that's the source of the problem. Tires tend to explode when they're spelled incorrectly

I was in a car doing 120 mph when one of those Firestone 500's on the right-front decided to self destruct. It looked like a rubber cloud. We pulled over and started walking to find a junkyard(ahh, the 70s).

From what I've experienced blowouts on the back tires seemed to cause more loss of control.

Not according to the British, it isn't.

the_good_guy lives in california...

I went to a british school in india (not fully british but for the most part it followed british patterns execpt it was state board affliated). I spell thing the correct way most of the time. Its Colour and not Color. Its not foto, its photo. Its not tire, its tyre.

Americans have always wanted the easy way out. Remember American English is not English. That is why you have two options for choosing in Word, English (US) and English (UK).

Rest of the world uses British English.. so learn to live with the fact that there are more people who spell things the correct way than the American way.

So in summary: I drink tea everyday at 3pm, and I wish i was as leet as americans are at speaking english, the right way.

Are you sure more people speak UK English than American English in the world? Not that I really care, but I'm curious.

Though I spell the british way it doesnt mean I say "diddly yours" or "lads and ladettes".

The point is that I am well versed in both forms of the english language. there is only one language just a differnet dialect. Get used to it.

If anything american english is not superior to british english. By spoken size you got to realise they got the upper hand. Most countries use both forms of the British and American English just like I do.

That's why Chinese is less complicated. You can speak whatever dialect you want, but there's only one way to spell. Uhm, yeah.. a lot easier to remember.
