They were doing fine until they whiffed the winds of false change. No gays, no problems. Accept gays, now they have problems.

Nice spin, though...you're the master of it.

I sincerely have no idea what you're talking about.

You appear to be complaining that people are scorning the BSA for their offensive conduct, which makes no sense to me.

The BSA has been "homophobic" for a very long time, and never had issues with funding, etc.

Giving in to social pressure caused them to lose support, NOT because of their alleged homophobia.

You're trying to spin it to make it as if the no-gay policy was the reason for their current issues.

What is the use in having a private organization if they are punished for having their own rules?

How can you say the boy scouts are acting in an offensive manner when they are a private organization?

If these social changes continue all organizations will be the same.

~ EDIT ~

If I open a private all mens club, no gays allowed and hire women to walk around nude serving the men drinks, what right do you have to criticize my club? It is called a "private organization" for a reason.

As soon as Christians stop forcing their morals on the rest of society and let the rest of the world "live and let live.

Excuses. So in other words, you'll stop being a faithophobe when religion stops its homophobia?

Gotcha'....

1.) Nowhere did I state the the no-gay policy was the reason for their current financial issues so first of all you're just making that part up. It is interesting that you would dishonestly state what my argument is and then accuse me of 'spinning' things though.

2.) What I DID argue is that the BSA has declined in relevance (they have lost ~50% of their membership from its height in the 50's) and that decline continues. I do think that their homophobic standards contributes to that in the current day.

You should be more careful to read what people write.

What's the use of having private individuals if they can't express their opinions?

No, there are plenty of things wrong with religion besides just homophobia. Even if they somehow stopped being so hateful of gay people I'd still be afraid of them for being hateful of everything else they don't understand.

So the convent you opened it next to doesn't have a right to complain about you?

So its ok for you to express your opinion, just nobody else is allowed to?

Huh? Everyone is allowed to express their opinion.

The BSA has decided to be homophobic (that's their opinion).

The rest of us have decided to condemn the BSA for their homophobia (that's our opinion).

As I keep saying, freedom of speech does not mean freedom of consequences for that speech.

Christians chose their weapon with which to wage battle; it would be impolite and bad form on my part to respond otherwise.

That you choose to see it as an "excuse" speaks volumes.

That is simply not true. You have taken my post out of context.

As I posted earlier in this thread, would you want your children under the guidance of someone who might be sexually attracted to your child?

It seems like everyday there is a news article about a public school teacher having sex with a student.

It is called boy scouts and girl scouts for a reason. To keep the sexes and sexual attraction separate. Gays do not fit into that equation.

what is this then?

gays don't want your kids... they want the same sex in the same age group...

pedophiles on the other hand...

My apologies for misreading you, as you sure seemed to imply it.

They accepted gay scouts, an not much has changed, in my opinion. My point is that going with the winds of change didn't improve things...thus far anyway.

Shocking! This forum's most prolific, idiotic troll posts an idiotic troll thread. Is this some kind of April Fool's joke?

Earth to TH: an openly gay scout leader is infinitely less dangerous than a married, covert pedophile scout leader, of whom there have been many.

No, religion should actually fear the "enlightened".

They likely chose the worst of both worlds. Choosing to stop discriminating against some gay people but not all will do nothing to stem the criticism of their organization being homophobic but will likely piss off some people that it wouldn't otherwise. They should have gone all the way or not at all.

OP, are you attracted to little girls?

Hell no.

I like women, older women, fully developed, past the teenage drama phase, just want to enjoy life phase of her life.

Just so you know, my wife is 4 years older than I am.

Then please explain the basis for your belief that gay men are attracted to little boys.
