I bought this Lexmark P122 printer for a good deal the other week when I got home I look it up and find out they don't support XP. Well me being a litte smarter than the average bear ;) figured out this thing looks a lot like the Kodak ppm200 made by lexmark. I found 2000 drivers for it and tried them. Well I couldn't get it to work so I uninstalled them.

Next I decided to try the 9x drivers on the cd. Well I couldn't get the install application to run. What a surprise. Anyhow I went to the add printers in control panel and was going to try a couple of things. Well upon opening my printer folder I find that my prior printer which I didn't delete or uninstall is not listed anymore. Although I did unhook it from the computer. I clicked on the add printer icon and get "operation could not be completed" dialog box. WTF

I knew that I probobly would not be able to get this to work in xp but I didn't think it would flub up my windows just trying it.

Can someone give me some ideas?

Thanks

Edit/ Well I have been searching and reading and decided to try another driver. I read somewhere that the z22 driver would work to print. Well I can't use the add printer as stated above but earlier I hadn't used that method. I simply plugged in the usb cable and found new hardware would pop up. Well now when I plug it in nothing happens.

Anybody have an idea on how I can get this thing working the computer not the printer. I just want windows to act normally. :|:(

Update#2/ I just rebooted again then plugged in the printer to usb. The found new hardware came up and recognized p122. I selected z22 drivers and I got an error and it doesn't sound good. "Cannot install this hardware ---- an error occurred during the installation of this device ------ The RPC server is unavailable." What the heck is the RPC server.

Well I done a repair installation from cd and print folder is normal I guess I just need a driver that will work with it.

Does anyone have a Lexmark P122 running on 2000 or xp. Lexmark does not make or have any intention of making either for this printer according to email I recieved from tech support. Seems kind of assinine to me since you can't buy system with 9x anymore. Well I mean mainstream outlets.

Any input about driver options would be helpful
