Uhhhhh
Wendy Kelly, a former Time Warner Cable vice president now living in Colorado, claims Konar endangered the emotional well-being of her son and violated Kelly's parental rights by insisting the child attend summer school after failing English class this year.

CRY about it whydontcha. Geze what a horrific thing, he has to goto summer school. If he will get all depressed, well he better have been having a good time screwing around in English class to fail, or just wait till he gets out of highschool. Is she gonna sue whoever he applies to to get a *good* job for having to have a degree in whatever field it is for 'emotional distress' of going to college to obtain that? I would dismiss that case in 5 minutes.

Guess we are seeing why Time Warner stock is doing so well lately with fine executives like this woman. At least she is a former vice president.

What a crock of sh!t. Her son is a dumbass, and since she can't go on a vacation or leave him alone at home, she sues. Wish I could beat some knowledge into this lady.

Its about time!

Hopefully this courageous woman, fighting for the rights of her disadvantaged child against the predatory vultures at school, will help usher in a new era of more social equality and greater emotional well-bing to the nations young!

GO Wendy GO! Fight against the establishment, bring down the cruel, authoritarian oppressors!

UMM it said she didn't get her 2 month visitation. She lives in CO he is in NY (?). So basically she doesn't get to see her kid for the summer. Granted he should have not slacked off in school but depending on his situation it could be mentally damaging not to see his mom. I bet there is more to it than we know.

I am surprised he couldn't have taken a summer class in CO where the mom lives. That is what I would have set up for him. Make him do his work and kick his butt back in shape so when he went back to daddy's he passed class. I would be upset at dad wondering why he let the kid slack off to begin with. Not like you fail a class w/o your parents having some idea.

If it is the school he goes to and public no. But you know what who cares if it meant she got to see him if she is "so concerned" about his mental well being. I would pay a different school for him to go there just so I could see him. I would figure something out.

not true, my brother is attending summer school to graduate a year early, and his is a public school, the one he goes to during the normal school year, but he still has to pay $250 per class.

I failed EVERY grade in middle school, and had to pay (edit: for summer school) every time. I goto public school. Kinda funny, I haven't gotten lower than a B in HS. I'll be a senior this year.

wow that is sad. None of the people when I went to HS had to pay for summer school. Maybe they would have paid more attention and not have to go every summer if they had.

Good for you on not going lower than a B!

The link said she "filed a complaint", does that mean she sued? I think the kid should have to pay the bill for summer-school. Why blame a parent when it is the kid who fvcked up?

Oops. How did i read that as vacation? I thought that aforementioned high school was in Colorado. Guess my reading comp isn't as good as I thought. I don't think they let you take summer school courses outside of a state, so that probably goes under violation of state education law. He doesn't HAVE to take summer school now though, as the article said, he could attend summer school next year or make up the work. He screwed himself and now he's paying for it, but apparently his mother wants to shift the blame.

when you fail a class, as far as I know there are only 2 ways to make it up. Summer school, or repeating that class and not graduating on time. As far as her son going to summer school, the mother and father of the child should have discussed it, along with the child to decide what was best for him. The principal was simply suggesting that having the child go to summer school was the best way for him to make up the class promptly. As far as mentally damaging, I think having the child not graduate on time, or having the child be behind the rest of his class for a while would be far more mentally damaging.

Of course I think having a parent file an idiotic law suit would be fairly mentally damaging. You know very well this child will be insulted that he couldn't pass a class so his mommy sued.
