is it hung or hanged?

not to make light of any of this - sad, sad stuff.. easy to call these kids dumb when you're not related to them, just try to empathize with their family members a bit.

I am having trouble understanding this...

As a child I would experiment, and sometimes do stupid things (mostly involving fire), but hang myself!? What would give the motivation to do something after seeing that the death of an individual was caused by that action. Or even if we call "experiencing" the pain the motivation, wouldn't it still strike home that the end result is usually death. I hesitate to call the kids dumb, because, well good judgment comes with age, but I am still scratching my head at that one.

BS. I don't know anyone who would have done that at that age. This is most definitely Darwin material.
