Boxing up CDs (inside their cases) for longterm storage: vertically or horizontally?

I'm boxing up my CDs for longterm storage...about 6 months or so. They are all in their cases. Should I:

Stack them vertically, ie. |||||||||||||||||||||||

Or Horizontally...opposite of ^^^

I know with albums (some of you may actually remember them) you never stack horizontally, but the CDs are in rigid cases as opposed to a floppy album cover.

I am leaning this way...I didn't think it mattered either (due to the rigid cases). Just wanted to ask you guys.

I would box them vertically for easier access. Say you want to get to one CD at the 5 month mark, and the box is 2 CD talls and 2 CD wides and 4 cd deeps. I think it would be easier to sift through 2 rows of CD rather than 15 rows of CDs (est when stacked horizontally).

I'm just rambling here, I know:p

No, actually, you're making sense. I already have them in the box horizontally. :eek: But the box isn't sealed yet. :D

if they are vertical and on their ends, then you can still see the labels without having to take them all out. as far as the discs, it makes no difference. they aren't heavy or flexible enough to warp, although if they were, vertical would be better because the discs are "hung" from their centers and when horizontal, the outsides are trying to pull down. but they are stiff enough for it not to matter.
