Ok since some of the fanboys around here can't seem to stay out of normal people's threads I am creating a tread just for the purpose of flaming. Thats right. Now you can flame in a neatly organized thread. Maybe you think that Nvidia is the best video card maker in the world, maybe you think it is ATI. Whatever your reason you can flame in here.

To start the flaming off how about we discuss how crapy these g71's are. I mean come on Nvidia you had a year to come up with somthing better but no you had to speed bump the crap out of the same feature set. ATI, get this changed their feature set from the 1800xt to the 1900xt. Wow what a concept. I don't want the same thing, I want added features.

Now! Flame away.

Uh, the 7900GT has four more pixel pipes than the 7800GT. Is that a feature set? I'm guessing it is since the only real difference between the X1800XT and the X1900XT is more pixel shaders.

come on guys there has to be a reason that some of you go on and on with the endless flame wars. All I am asking you to do is start one here.

I agree but the purpose of those threads are rarely related to what everyone ends up flaming about. Usually it starts with someone wanting help with selecting a card. I grew tired of seeing that so I created this thread. In my opinion flaming has no point in the first place. You are never going to convince the other person you are right. Besides it makes all the rest of us looking for information have to sift through all the flame garbage. So I thought why not show flaming for what it is: worthless arguing, and create a neat place for it so we don't have to sift through it when we want information.

this thread has no purpose. people will always give opinions, and thats what makes anandtech forum interesting.

Sure the x1900xt was a huge leap, but did you know the 7900gt consumes 50w under load? That's also a huge leap and kudos to nvidia for going that route.

Yeah but then they would have to drive 20mph tops and listen to their screaching whimpy fan while getting their eyes poked out with Nvidia's poor AF implemintation.:p

The X1900XT/X addes several other architectural improvements, such as Fetch4 and a larger Z-Buffer.

It also gave us 300% more pixel shaders FWIW.

I try to help those who request help but keeping in mine that my reply might influence those who read it and might get some value or not.

There are individuals who would rather flame someone's comments because they believe its their right to do so, whether young or old. About 90% 0r 95% of comments can be construed as opinions. No guarantees or insurance coverages offered. Its the OPs choice to follow what he/she believes the best for one.

All of us can be nice and respect others opinions too, especially the newcomers who need to be welcomed. Some newcomers are surprised at the fact that aren't flamed and treated rather nicely. If we can all continue this atmosphere, wouldn't it be grand.

I maybe all wet with this, but what the heck I know, some people would say that I'm absolutely bonkers......

what IS z-buffer, anyway? I've seen it in graphic cards long past, and i've always wondered if it was a REAL feature at all.
