Boxed P4 3.0E (1MB) 800FSB + ECS PT800CE-A Combo

did you see what mobo it comes with?
Yep, I have one from the last combo deal. Great board, certified up to P4 3.4GHz (Prescott and Extreme Edition), 2 x SATA (RAID0 & RAID1) integrated in VIA's excellent VT8237 Southbridge, and retails for $45 ~ $50.

does that mobo have dual channel ddr?
Nope, PT800 is single channel, though numerous tests have shown that dual channel benefits P4 by less than 10%. VIA's PT880 is dual channel.

Which revision 3.0E are they shipping? If it is the latest E0, this is hawt.
Outpost doesn't disclose details like steppings, but the boxed P4 3.0E I received from Outpost's New Year combo deal is as follows:

sSpec: SL7E4
Core Step: D0

Are the E0's better O/C?

Will this fit in and run in my Antec Sonata case with 350 Watt power supply it came with a couple of years ago

I don't see why not, though you may want to check that your 350W PSU can support not less than 16A on the +12V rail, higher if you have a lot of hard drives or optical drives.

Id aldo like a confirmation if its dual channel or not.

Lastly can anyone confirm if these are indeed EOs?

For D0/E0 stepping you may have to check the processor - I don't think that info is available on Outpost's online catalog. A friend got D0 on this deal, as did OP.

Poops. I'd rather pay $180 shipped for an E0 from zipzoomfly or newegg (who are apparently shipping them). El-cheapo mainboards are available for free, AR, afterall. Intel is slated to cut some CPU prices Feb 20 so I'm rather hoping these will be included.

Well, I just received my CPU/Mobo combo and looks like I got the E0 stepping of the CPU.

S-Spec: SL7PM
Revision: E0
Packing date: 01/17/05

So it's possible u may get the newer stepping if you order now.

According to Antec, the Sonata is not rated above the Northwood core P4 3.0......

the Prescott core runs too hot for the case...

Where do you get that from? It states on their website that it is 3.0 Ghz compatible. This case has a 120mm fan in back and a room for an optional 120mm fan in front. Those fans move a lot of air.

The one rear 120mm fan is rated at almost 80 CFM.

This case with another 120mm fan in the front would be able to have any CPU in there that is out today, and there would be no thermal issues.

I have two Prescott systems in 'non-thermally advantaged' cases with no side-vent, one 80mm case fan, a $15 aluminum HSF with copper base, and a dual-fan PSU. No thermal issues here, either.
