Box & SSD drive both labeled 1TB but shown only 250GB on Samsung Magician

I'm the unluckiest guy in the world. I think I got a case of Samsung mislabeling a 250GB drive as a 1TB. I bought it off Ebay from Best Buy. The box looked sealed and labeled as 860 Evo 1TB. The card itself is labeled as 1TB. That is until I put it in my PC. The card only shows up as 250GB in Disk Management. And when I opened up Samsung Magician, it also shows 250GB. Samsung Magician also shows that it is genuine. But get this, on Samsung Magician, the number to the immediate left of the word "genuine" I assume is the serial number...is totally different than what was labeled on the drive & box. Did Samsung mess up and mislabeling a 250GB drive as a 1TB? Is it possible that I didn't set it up properly for it to shows up as 250GB only?

Where do I go from here? Contact Bestbuy through Ebay and ask them for an even exchange?

Yeah, BestBuy on ebay screwed me too. Bought a 4-pack (OEM case qty) of PNY Portable Chargers, only got a single unit, for the 4-unit price. F BestBuy.

It might have been Samsung's fault than BestBuy's fault in my case. I'm just glad that the drive itself is labeled as 1TB. Had it been labeled as 250GB, I would hate having to explain that I didn't switch it out.

Someone probably performed a buy-swap-return, and Best Buy didn't validate the serial number. Happens all the time, and the people that do that sort of thing can DIAF. Someone probably had a 250GB, bought the 1TB, swapped it out, then returned the "1TB" SSD to Best Buy.

Anyways, contacting them is about all you can do. Hopefully they're willing to believe you.

I contacted best_buy via Ebay and they sent a shipping label. I'm awaiting their confirmation that this will be an even exchange and not a refund since this was bought with 20% Ebay promo. Interestingly, according to best_buy's return policy, I could have just taken this to a store and they can do a refund/even exchange without having to go through Ebay. I'm not going that route as I would not be protected by Ebay. As unlucky as I am to receive this mislabeled/buy-swap-return item, who's to say that my 2nd device won't have issue. If someone did indeed do a buy-swap-return, they must have perfected the art because I couldn't really tell just by looking at it.
