bowling etiquette!!!

Ok so for Easter my parents, sister and aunt drove 4 hours to my college to take me out bowling, then rent a hotel, golf tomorrow, and visit my campus... Why do parents with young children (around 5 years old) feel the need to not give a crap about their children at a bowling alley?!? Its frusrating trying to bowl when a 5 year old kid gets directly in the line of fire... Overall it was an unenjoyable experience bowling... Parents need to teach their children not to run around like the monkeys they want to be when they are at a bowling alley. One of the kids put his head in the ball return and took it out just in time. 3 seconds later and he would have had a smashed face. This kind of rudeness really drives me nuts since all im trying to do is enjoy the game...

I hope that the people on here have enough sense to monitor their children in places like a bowling alley so you dont spoil someone else's fun.

I bet the parents would have sued the bowling alley if the ball did hit the kid too ... For not protecting their children from the moving ball.

There are some people who are just not fit to be parents. I'm probably one of them right now ... hence why I am single, and have no plans to have children anytime soon. 🙂

What was even funnier (sarcasm) was they had a triangle wooden contraption (to help mentally retarded people and sometimes regular children - if they dont feel like putting bumpers up) and the smallest kid was crawling UNDERNEATH the thing. The bowling ball could have easily fallen on his head. GAH! the stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

i bowl, but young children are usually not there the hours that i'm there. it pisses me off when people use my ball (well not mine, but the one i'm using)

Well on a college campus, it seems rare that 5-6 year olds would be there 8-9:30 on a friday night

You know, when I go bowling, and there's little crumb-snatching monsters running about, it really breaks my heart when their little fingers get crushed by the balls in the ball racks, especially when I'm selecting a suitable ball from said ball rack. Boo hoo.

You should have a talk with your parents about having your 5 year old sister run around at the bowling alley when you are playing 🙂

Not MY sister who's 23... some other family was the problem...

you should tell the parents to control their kid...if they give you lip about it, tell them to bite you and you aren't responsible if their kid happens to wander into your lane while you bowl.

Stack 3 bowling balls somewhere out of the way. (yes, one on top of the other. it is possible, I perfected it in college.) then let the problem solve itself.

Hint: the kids will go look at the stacked balls, and they will fall because they will touch. The noise and screaming kids (hopefully not hurt though) will attract their parents, their parents will get piossed, and they all leave. yay!
