Bowlers: Any tips?

I get to go bowling three games this week during school and I'd like to improve somewhat. Are there any tips you have? I really like bowling but I haven't ever really pursued it because of the little amount of free time I have....

get a light ball and learn control before you go for a heavy ball.. in the long run it'll help

if you just want a high score fast, get a heavy ball and learn to throw it straight.

Be the ball... Start with your thumb in the 12 o'clock position and when you let go your thumb should be in the 10 o'clock position.

Thanks! I'll start out with a light ball first game and then do a medium ball the other two, atleast that depends on my score 😛

cheapgoose, I'll make sure to cut my nails, thanks! 🙂

TMPAdmin: I'll try that

are you throwing straight ball? If so, stand with your right foot on the farthest right dot on the floor. Walk straight forward. Do not look @ pins. Try to throw the ball right in the middle of the 1st and second arrow from the right.

The best thing you can do now is not look at the pins, and get some consistency down. After that, then start doing the more advanced things.

Here is a nifty truck for tons of hook. (amaze your firends!)
Do not put your thumb in the ball, only use your 2 fingers. You will end up "palming" the ball. The strength of your hand will give you a bunch of hook without trying when you throw it. It is difficult to be acurate at all, it is more of an amazement thing. 😛 Lighter ball = more hook.

Hehe, awesome! I'm going to try the trick with the light ball for sure. 🙂
