seriously, just don't.
not only does it look retarded in your 6x8 bathroom, you lose usable space on top of the vanity cabinet.

The worse part of this; you are forced to install it in your home.

Oh wait,...

Hey, when can we come over your house and just shit all over your tastes and decor?

Uhh, looks to me like you gain space, about the whole area that a sink would take up.

I need to pick out a 30" vanity and sink for my basement bathroom sometime in the next few weeks. Any suggestions?

I also need to pick out tile for about 400 square feet.

I don't get these things. They seem impractical...I also find them fairly ugly. Maybe people install them mistaking them for bidets.

sure, you can probably find a nicer one than my example, but it does not fit the decor of a residential home.

Uh, what? There's plenty of homes that it would fit the decor of. I wouldn't say its any better or worse than the average stupid colored faux-marble or cheap porcelain sinks that most homes have. It would depend on the actual decor and the specific sink.

How do you lose vanity top space? Worst case you have the same amount as you would with an undermount sink. You actually gain a little bit, but just not usable.

I wouldn't buy one, but there are homes with a very modern decor that these would fit in pretty nicely.

Also more work to keep 'em clean. Gotta clean both sides of the sink bowl. To hell with that.

My hunch is that they bowl sink thing is a fad, and nobody will be selling them 5 years from now.

Putting one in your house would be pretty silly (unless you're flipping the place), as it's going to look as dated as shag carpet and textured ceilings do when you go to sell the place 10+ years from now.
