They were lots of fun. The first one is one of my favorite movies. Had a little too much camera shake in the 2nd & 3rd films, but the stories were also really good. And they gave you closure, which I really liked (re: series finale of Lost - still mad about that!).

...because no one has mentioned it yet, Great movies!

Bourne is the biggest coldest badass motherfucker ever produced, that has a crisis of conscience on his very first Mission which propels him to want to escape to atone for his crime and live the life of a mediocre civilian. The Agency that produced him won't let him go though, to their demise.

I agree that the second is a bit tedious, but the series as a whole is great. Ultimatum I actually saw three times in the theater, which is impressive since I don't go to the theater all that much.

1 was a solid piece
2 was lacking + shakey cam
3 was a great, and concluded well about his past.

I love it when a franchise makes an effort to tie up all ends for a satisfying finish instead of dragging on to milk it for the next movie.

The first movie follows the book plotline to some extent, but Supremacy and Ultimatum really diverge from the source material.

We've discussed this before here in ATOT, and I would like to restate my opinion on this. It is true that the plot of the first movie is close to the book, but to me the essence of the Bourne trilogy (books) is Bourne vs. Carlos, a character that is completely missing from the movies (obviously intentional, to separate the movies from the books).

Secondly, one very important thing from the books is that Bourne memories never come back. All he's got were flashes of some vague things and his survival reflex when his life is threatened (which sometimes accompanied by a complete reversal of personality). 'Jason Bourne'
(which turns out to be someone else's name, as we've learned later)
never remembered who and how he was, and he had to relearn/reinvent himself after he wakes up with amnesia. His life in the second and third book (a span of 10+ years, if I'm not mistaken), is something he started fresh. A literally 'new' life with Marie
and their children
, having very little memories of his life before they met.

The above are two things that really fascinated me when I read the books, so needless to say I was very disappointed when I watched the first Damon movie. Until I followed my own advice above and forget about any relation this movie might have with the books and enjoy it as a great action movie, then I finally became a fan of the movie (and the two sequels) as well.

I enjoyed them, but the shaky camera to make everything look so frantic - including walking down a friggen hallway and opening a door - really irritated the hell out of me.

That other article was written back in 2011. For some reason the Examiner has their stuff bass ackwards. Renner is definitely the new guy for the next Bourne movie and not Shia THANK YOU HOLLYWOOD JESUS.

That's interesting considering Renner is supposed to be taking over the Mission Impossible franchise too. :hmm:
