In this day and age when many of us are stuck indoors for more time than usual, in general, but especially in colder weather areas, we are doing a lot of streaming. And we are probably trying hard to find something good to watch.

Anytime that happens, I tend to find a Bourdain show is almost always a good bet. Have always been a fan of his since his first book, but he really evolved. No Reservations, Parts Unknown, and the Layover. Just excellent narration, interesting exploration, solid videography. He can be a bit more edgy in No Reservations than Parts Unknown, though Parts Unknown was just beautifully done. Watch the Vienna episode on Hulu if you want to see some vintage Bourdain.

You can see a couple No Reservations seasons on Hulu, and more on YouTubeTV, plus I think the TravelChannel app. You can buy Parts Unknown on Amazon, I have some seasons purchased, or now all seasons are available on HBO Max, which still has no Roku App. The Layover has some stuff on Hulu as well. Probably other options.

RIP Bourdain.

Bourdain and Guy Fieri (Lol, the contrast) were the 2 hosts that my dad and I watched the most together. I think we'd both seen the entire Bourdain catalog, front to back, several times over. We were both gutted when news of his passing first broke.

Not a year later Dad passed away too. I still feel like I'm sitting in my parents' living room on a Saturday morning with Dad whenever I flip on Parts Unknown. Makes you wonder if actors, hosts, etc., are aware of the impact they have on their audience in that regard.

Bourdain definitely inspired me to travel and explore food. I enjoyed his books and travel shows. It sucks that he's gone but his influences live on through many Youtube travel bloggers. I actually think Youtube is the perfect platform for travel, food, and culture exploration.

Bourdain was an idiot for killing himself. So while I will continue to enjoy his work, I won't glorify him.

Bourdain was great! Truly a lovely human being.
Loved Parts Unknown, and Have loved what I have seen of No Reservations as well, though Im guilty of not having seen the whole series.

He was super depressed. His suicide was a tragedy.

That said, my all time favorite traveling shows tend to be the ones with Karl Pilkington.
An Idiot abroad was perfect joy for me.
The Moaning of Life was fantastic as well.

Also, really really enjoyed "Long Way Round" and "Long Way Down" with Ewan McGreggor and Charley Boorman.

Seen a few really good episodes of parts unknown today with the hboMax trial - the Bronx, Scotland and Seattle.

Tony and his production crew were the masters. What other show comes even close whether YouTubers or full fledged tv productions?

Departures is good, Globe Trekker series is great but a bit dated now , Gordon Ramsey's Uncharted is good as well....Rick Steves has great shows available for free on youtube and there's some really interesting stuff out on youtube...

none of them can tell a story the way Anthony Bourdain did though

I do remember Globe Trekkers being quite good. I've seen a few Rick Steve's episodes on YouTube and they are informative and well done. I never saw that Gordon Ramsey show - I remember reading it was being done by Nat Geo so that was a big positive but then you had Gordon Ramsay competing with the locals I read? That threw me off. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot.

I just can't stop watching and re-watching Bourdain. Over the years I've pretty much seen almost every episode he's ever done. From the narration to his banter to the production value of his crew, to the guests he talks with to paint a picture of the locale and weave his story, it's just so damn good.
