since we are all talking about guns, i felt that this was the right time to ask. i know that the actual term is federal Bondsmen but i'm not quite sure on how to become one. i know you have to take the 2 day class and pass the final exam before you are accredited. any details would be great. any links with details would be great. for you nosy people out there, i'm not trying to be a bounty hunter, i just want to be licensed. that would be nice on my resume.

Stay away from it, once you are accredited, bondsmen will want you to work for them. the money can be good, but it is extremely stressful on a family.

pick up random people on the street, take them to the jail, and see if you can get a reward for someone. thats how I would get started :p

Fill us in on my what kind of resume would look good with 'bounty hunter' included on it.

Maybe that will give you the edge on some other guy that on has A+ and MCSE. ;)

Why not learn from experience? Commit a minor offense, pay your bail money and then don't show up for court. Watch their technique as they crash through your front door without a warrant, how they beat you to the ground all without identifying themself, and drag you off, without ever telling you where. Yes, the life of a bounty hunter is certainly worth living!

Watch reruns of the TV show "Renegade" on USA Network and you'll learn all you need to know.

I have actually considered that line of work. I did choose my nick for a reason. :)

As far as how to go about it, I haven't got a clue. And I'm sure it differs from state to state.

darn...maybe someone should try the method that wangel describe and give me a full report. anyone else know the actual method one would take to become a Bounty Hunter...see how much you resume would look better with BOunty Hunter on it? undoubtedly i can always double as apprentice to troll-hunting.

I lost all respect I may have had for bounty hunters after reading about an incident that scared the sh!t out of me.

Basically a group of bounty hunters thought they had found the home of their target. They came into the house, & were headed into the master bedroom. Big surprise, the occupants started shooting. The bounty hunters opened fire in return, killing both man & wife... And then they realized they had the wrong person. Husband and wife, dead for no reason other than mistaken identity. The concept that that sort of activity was acceptable shocked me.

I will never support bounty hunting.

We actually do have a member at these forums who does this kind of work. I always get a kick out of it anytime someone here thinks they're tough and gives him a load of crap.:D But, I'll let him reveal himself if he chooses to.

Okay Russ, I will admit is is me. I never thought of it as that big a deal before, they are not hard to find almost always in the same aisle as the kleenex and toilet paper. Worst case scenario, you may have to get physical with a housewife if there is a sale going on......

Actually Wangel, if you pay your bail with your own money then skip bail it will be police that will be after you for 'failing to appear' or 'for failing to report' (which has happened to me, I got done for something about 15 years ago & I was so 'off my face' & had no memory of being arrested or anything, consequently I got picked up for 'failing to appear' & locked up in the cells overnight then I got marched over to the court next door in the morning & got a $100 fine for being off my face with a bag of pot rolled up in my sleave:), I then promptly converted the fine to 1 days community service, which means just spending about 3 hours at the local St Vincent DePaul sorting old cloths - that's what you call justice Oz Style:)). Its when you take out a loan, or should I say a bond to pay your bail with & then you skip bail that the bondmen go after you, because they don't get their money back till either you appear in court or your house is sold & most people who need a bail bond don't own a house, because otherwise they could just re-mortgage it to get their bail money.
