... for a failure to appear on a drug charge

Fucking idiots. Too bad they're dead, because they should have been locked up for life for pulling shit like that around people.

* Edit *

> was facing several charges that included assaulting a law enforcement officer.

Which means he must have said "Hey, why you arresting me?!" when the cops handcuffed him.

Bounty hunters don't seem much different than the criminals to me. Illigitimate wannabe cops. I feel they probably got what was coming to them, luckily without killing someone else.

Best part of the story is the seven d bags charged with murder in TN.

Good thing no innocent bystanders got shot. Hopefully the other bounty hunter is charged with reckless endangerment.

"Stew, he's going into the dealership. What should we do?"

"Go get him. You've got your guns, don't you? Pussies."

A bounty hunter. Two of them even. After googling "Corpus Christi", I initially assumed the company they worked for was called "Corpus Christi", which seemed as ridiculous as the notion that bounty hunters would still exist outside of the wild west, sci-fi and space operas.

Imagining stating that as your profession when you go on a date. You may as well have announced that you were a space nazi or a jedi, IMO, but perhaps my idea that it's completely fucking ridiculous is because I think I have a good bead on things.

It is ridiculous, but it definitely exists in a very fuzzy grey legal territory. Shooting people is generally not in the cards but as you can see, it happens. This is kinda right up there with vehicle repos, you're just repoing people instead of cars (roughly equal chance of being shot).

If you work for a bail bondsman finding deadbeats who skip out, it's what you do. It's the press and people who don't realize this is a part of the business who are most likely to label them "bounty hunters". This goes on all across the country every single day, usually by people with more sense than to try to capture a guy with guns drawn in a business full of people.

This is a more fucked up story imho:

"Authorities in Tennessee say seven people they described as bounty hunters shot at four people in a car April 23 in Clarksville, killing one man and injuring another. It appears the larger group targeted the wrong vehicle and all seven have been indicted on first-degree murder charges. Not one of the men in the car was wanted on outstanding charges"

Even if there was a fugitive in the car how the hell do you defend shooting into it when there are 3 innocent people in it as well? And then to get the wrong freaking car, just fucking nuts. I'm glad they are facing charges, now if we can only hold the police to the same standards...

Bounty hunters are by rule guys who are desperate to carry a gun and try to impose their will on people. They tried to be cops and failed, they tried to by air marshals and failed, they tried to be private security and failed. Any job that does mental screening to weed out the real wingnuts before issuing weapons is out of their reach. After washing out of every selective position they migrate into bounty hunting because cops have rules they have to follow and bounty hunters get to ignore almost all of them, so they wind up worse than the guys they're chasing. Three fewer dangerous psychos on the street and no innocent bystanders hurt, that's a good result.
