It appears that Romney got little if any bounce from his convention. Some polls showed him gaining 1 or 2 points; Gallup showed no move at all. A couple of computer models actually showed him losing a bit of ground.

There was some speculaton that this could just be a sign that conventions didn't matter that much in the modern information age -- until last week. Since the DNC, Obama has pulled away from Romney in both of the major national polls. Gallup has showed Obama's approval rating going from net -5% to +10% in a week. It also has Obama up by 4 points now, and that will improve, because they average approval over 3 days and the race over 7 days, so there is still old data in there.

Now the kicker -- heavily Republican-leaning Rasmussen has shown a shockingly large move to Obama in just a few days. He went from having Obama at -8% net approval to +5% in approval in just three days. In that same time, Obama has gained 7% on Romney in the matchup, and Rasmussen has him up by 5, his largest lead in six months.

Romney is in trouble.
