Boulder/Denver Colorado

Is Colorado a nice place? I caught a glimpse of it on American Idol, and it looks like a big clean city right in the middle of nowhere. I came across this forbes' "best cities for you" map, and based on my criteria I get:

1. Denver-Boulder
2. Raleigh-Durham
3. Atlanta
4. Charolette
5. Phoenix

I've been looking at Raleigh since it is so close to Pennsylvania. But I'd figure I'd ask about Colorado too since I've seen a few IT Security jobs pop up there.

I dont live in Denver, but overall Colorado is a great place to live. The seasonal changes are spectacular in beauty and there are so many things to do outdoors during any season🙂

i live in Longmont, a city just north of boulder

denver is my hometown, went to school in boulder.

i've been a lot of places in the US, and nothing, IMHO, beats denver. And everyone i know loves it.

So, why don't you book a trip for a weekend out here and see what you think.

I am currently working in Denver, CO... I love it here! It's a huge city, but since it's so spread out you still get the nice, small town feel... It's very laid back here (not like the East coast or LA/SF), and everyone is real nice...

Great outdoor activities (golf, skiing, water sports), 300 days of sunshine a year (and this is true, not like a line), and living expenses are relatively low... plus it's right in the middle of the country, everywhere else in the US is at most a 3 hr flight away...

PS. I'm a consultant and travel all over the country... previous places I have worked at includes LA, SF, Seattle, Atlanta etc and Denver is my favorite

My brother and his family lives in Longmont (see robothouse's post above). I've visited their place a number of times and have really enjoyed the area. The Denver area really seems like a fantastic place to live.

oh, and if you like sports....

denver kicks ass.

broncos, avs, nuggs, (we'll see w/ the rockies in a few years).

great colleges, dispite the negative media coverage

~2 hours from best skiing in the country.

fairly reasonable housing prices

I live in Pueblo, which is about 100mi south of Denver. Its nice for the most part, but the drivers are insane, the farther south you go, the stupider they become. Also, the farther south you go, especially south of Colorado Springs, the women tend to get real ugly real quick. I will be so happy when i get to move away from here in 8 months. 😀

We always joke that's because it's closer to California 😛

If you think drivers in Colorado is bad, you should see the ones in California when it rains

Folks live in Grand Junction, brother lives in Fort Collins. All three love it and would never move back east (where I still am).

I work in Boulder and like working here, lots of different places to choose at lunch. but i wouldnt live here. taxes are too high and housing is not cheap. I live near a town called Brighton which is 20 miles NE of Denver.

Depends on what you want. Denver is excellent for diversity and things to do. But the cost of living seems higher than other places. There has also been a huge influx of Californians which some will say has caused things to go downhill. Drivers aren't the best and very few can actually drive in snow. Overall, I would live there again.

Hey I'm moving to Denver in late march! I was never out West before and i spent a weekend in Parker for my boy's wedding. I had a great time, the people were all friendly and the state is just beautiful. I can't wait to move there. I'm gonna rip up those Rockies with my ski's haha

I am from Greeley, but am at school in PA. Colorado is one of the best states to live in, especially if you appreciate/participate in outdoor sports. Denver is the cleanest/best big city I have ever been in.

I forgot to add in, if you like Beer, Denver is great too because of all the breweries and brew pubs. The mayor of Denver even owns a Brew Pub.

oh yeah all the micro-brews... but Fat Tire is still my favorite

Just outside Denver here (like, just outside, lol). Colorado in general is a nice place. Boulder has a "big" small town feel to it and nestled right in the mountains (closest ski area is probably a half hour from there, winter park and the like are probably an hour to two hours away). Denver has a pretty clean downtown, kinda expensive though (but not east coast expensive). It's not too big but it's been growing steadily without losing itself.

correction: Fat Tire is brewed in Ft. Colins, 20 or so miles north of Denver.

I think it's a bit more than 20 miles... probably more like 50-60. It's a good 45 minute to an hour drive. Driven between the two a number of times 😛
