I just recieved a Radeon X800 Pro card today, the MSI RX800 Pro. on the back it says 350watt power supply required. I actually bought it for my little brother and I don't know what power supply he has. does the Radeon X800 Pros really need a 350 watt power supply to run successfully?

darn this is gonna cost me more than i thought 🙁

edit: btw, how much power does the 9800 pro require?

The x800pro is not a super power hungry card. Unless the PSU in your brother's computer is really really crappy, and he's running a lot of HDs and CD-Rom, he should be fine. Anyway you should just stuck the card in there first, and see if it works out.
My old rig ran a 330w Enermax with quite a few things and a 6800GT (whick I think use even more power than the x800pro), and it was rock-soild.

350w is the minumum, I wouldn't run it under a 400w

If there are case fans, and all four of the IDE controllers are being used, includes SATAs and all sorts of case junk that's eating up your PSU, than 350w ain't gonna cut it

350w minimum is assumed to be the last XXXw used before your system will crap you over

suggest what you're using the card for, because if your little bro wants blistering frame rates, that card should do it, and upgrade PSU to 500w

yeah it's just for gaming.

currently all four IDE channels are being used, two ATA100 hds and a DVD drive and a Cd-RW. it used to have a geForce Ti4200 in there but it burnt up.
