Bought the Lian-Li P601 instead of the P60 by accident...

I recently bought te 601 by accident by clicking on the wrong item and not realizing it until it showed up at my doorstep. The only difference that I originally thought I seen was that the front panel has input for mouse/usb/keyboard and etc. However, I just realized that the 601 doesn't have the switch to control the fan speed of the intake and the exhaust. Is this normal?? I ended up getting some Papst fans instead, but I'm still curious why they left this feature out of this case and if I am making a big mistake not sending this case base for the one I originally wanted.

The fan control isn't really a big deal unless you want a super quiet system. I just put them on high and have left them there since.

I have two of the Lians and find the fan control makes little difference except in noise. Temp on varies about 4f between highest and lowest setting. Plus it is inconvienent to change it since you have to remove the front cover.

When I went from lowest settting to highest, it dropped the system temp by 5C.

Before : Case 32C, CPU 48C
After : Case 27C, CPU 43C

The noise is too much for me so I dont think its worth it at highest setting though.

I noticed that LianLi started putting blow holes on the top of some of their newer cases

Does the 601 have a top blow hole?

Also, on my PC65, I removed all the Adda fans and replaced them with L1A Panaflos.
While the fan setup is quieter overall with the Panaflos, adjusting the front control from low to medium to high produces no measurable temperature difference.

Nope, the 601 doesn't have a blowhole. Right now with my fan changes, my amd 2k+ is idle at around 53 and goes to about 60 after some heavy gaming. I think this is a bit hot, but I have a Alpha 8045 sitting my desk waiting for me to put it in....hopefully that will cool things down some.

Overall though - as a side note - the lian cases are by FAR the best case that I've ever worked with. Probably the only things that bug me is the tiny screws to remove the front cover (not too big of a deal since that cover doesn't really come off too often)...hmm actually that's probably the only thing that annoyed me alittle about this case. Outside of that, it all just seems right ;)
