Looked at the Hero and the Pre and I must say the Pre was slick but as some others have said, it felt somewhat flimsy and I wanted to see what the hype is on the Android.
After toying with both for a while I felt the better choice was the Hero. Brought it to the office to get it charged up and connect it to our network - piece of cake. In the beginning, typing with the onscreen was difficult as I'm used to my Curve 8330 (Loved that phone) but after a simple calibration it's all good now. Switching between different menu screens is a breeze and everything is there without a lot of searching through submenus.
Then it was on to web browsing. The large screen displays web pages beautifully with minimal lag between large images. It's also nice to have Flash now. Pinching and expanding was a piece of cake as well. What I didn't like about browsing is that there's a slow response once you close the browser then reopen. Not sure why. It's not that bad but it's still a nuisance. I also noticed that web browsing is slightly slower than my Curve probably due to more images being able to be loaded due to the screen size.
After playing with the web browser I decided to get the phone paired to my Blue Ant. This was the easiest pairing I've ever done. Just did as instructed with the Blue Ant (Held the button down) then got on the phone and scanned for bluetooth items. The phone quickly located it and paired within seconds. No fuss, no waiting, quick and easy.
Then I decided to try out the 5 megapixel camera. Image quality was okay but not the best. So don't expect to have a DSLR in your phone.

I tie flies for a hobby so I decided to take a picture of one. As you can see even with a lot of light it was difficult to get a non blurry photo. It might be due to camera shake however.
Next it was onto Youtube videos which was quite disappointing with my Curve. I must say that video looks pretty damn good on the Hero. Just watched the video of the drunk guy going back for more. There was no hesitation and the video loaded quickly.
Battery life. After I charged the phone at work I had my Facebook always logged in so I can status the people on my phonebook/Facebook list just because I could. This yielded a huge decline in battery life - massive. I also read that there is a fix that's in the works due to a flaw where you text message and after the screen goes dark it doesn't put the phone into sleep like it should.

However, after reading an on Android site it seems the fix only worked for a certain period of time then it defaulted back to normal. For now I'll have to suffer.
Well that's about it for tonight. Throughout the week I'll have more time to play with the phone but for the most part it's a great phone but does have it's flaws in my opinion.
Phone navigation - Is a breeze. All items are displayed in the menu screens and there's not a lot of sub menus.
Web Browsing - Simple and easy. Images display beautifully. Flash is a huge plus. Slow browser startup.
Camera - Image resolution is poor but pretty much the norm for cell phone cameras. Disappointing though after all this time you would think that manufacturers would get this part right. No flash.
Online videos - Are awesome. Good visual quality and quick loading.
Battery life - Horrid. Hopefully when the fix comes out it will change but for the moment plan on charging your Hero often.
