THUJON (or THUJONE).

Absinthes are defined by the wormwood content, the wormwood has the thujon. The fake absinthes contain southern wormwood, which has no thujon. I agree, the fake stuff is worthless, however it would give one the general idea of the taste. (Albeit a craptastic one)

Agreed. Alot of my friends picked up Absinthe and swore it was real because it had the wormwood but they failed to realize it was the crappy wood without the Thujon.

Do you have the glass with the drip spood that you use to melt the little suger cubes with??

I haven't had Bacardi 151, but I once had this 63% rum (126 proof), and I know better now. It tasted ****** horrible, but being a students we couldn't waste it, so me and 2 other guys finished a 750 bottle as quickly as possible - about 8 shots each in rapid succession. We had fun after that, since it got us very nicely buzzed, but I'll never drink that ****** again. I stick to Havana Club mixed in Mojitos now 🙂
 
I used to use Everclear to get water out of my gas tank. Water mixes with alcohol which mixes with gas.

I always buy 197 proof. It is very cheap in Mexico where it is sold as "alcohol de cana." The bottles I bought were bottled at the "gasolinera de la aeropuerto," which is not the first place I think of going for a drink. I like to fantasize that distilled liquors are aged in oak barrels. In Mexico it's about $2.00 US a liter at liquor stores.

25 years ago there were about 17 of us enjoying a nice day. I suggested we have an Everclear punch party. We took a 5 gallon insulated water container with a spigot, they're orange with a top with a handle. We tossed in ice, citrus punches, juice, bananas, pineapple, etc., 1 liter Everclear, 1 bottle rum, and floated champagne on top.

We had poured 3 glasses when some guy says, "It's not shaken up enough!" He grabs the container to shake it and drops it all onto the ground with the lid off on it's side. He was toast. I had a back-up bottle so we redid the whole thing.

Damn that stuff is expensive. That bottle would be about $130 shipped to me. Any cheaper way to experience the "real" absinthe cheaper?

What are you talking about. Everclear is great. Mix it with anything you would mix vodka with. Make a BIG glass (double or triple size, where you would usually have 5-6 shots of vodka), but use 2 shots of everclear. You won't taste it, but it will still hit hard.

I guess that's because I don't drink just to get wasted. I actually enjoy the taste of beers and quality liquors.

I've never enjoyed the taste of any alcohol product. If I wanted something that tasted good, I wouldnt drink alcohol.
But then again, I only drink to get buzzed.
 
If you like 151, grain alcohol is right up your alley ( 9 shots of everclear and multiple games of beer pong = fun night)

The better everclear, can't remem if it is 190 or the 200 proof is good in hand grenades. But you only need about a shot for the whole night, then go to something else
 
151 is nasty stuff. I was gonna have a new years party this past year with a bunch of people and went out and bought $300 bucks worth of liquor including 151. It friggin snowed so nobody wanted to go out. So it was just me and like 5 friends. We went a little nuts with the booze that night. By about 1am I was stupid enough to start doing shots of the 151. Good christ that stuff burns. Even when you're piss drunk, as soon as you pour that stuff down your throat, you know you just did something stupid. Three shots of that combined with everything else I drank had me puking the whole next day. I will never drink that mch again so help me.
 
I don't recall how much 151 is, but man, that stuff is awesome.. I've got a bottle of rum (87%, IIRC), man, it rocks.. Surprisingly, even though it burns, you can still taste the rum. I like to drink it straight out of the bottle.

151 proof means 75.5% alcohol, so your 87% would be 174 proof. I'm not sure if "proof" is more an American thing or a liquor thing.
