From a seller on anandtech...its the three gram tube version...its all one syringe.

My quesitn is: the plunger part can be pulled up more than halfway...do you think this tube was used?

I just got mine today and it's the same.I think the tube is generic and they just put the 3Gs in the tube. Got mine from 2cool, I trust him.
 
I've only used a small "rice-sized" amount of my Arctic Silver II per instructions. And although I haven't tried pulling the syringe out with a lot of strength, it seems like it cannot be pulled. Of course, I'm sure if I tugged on it even a little harshly the thing would come out.

The tube is probably brand new. Was there a cap on it? My syringe came just like the way you described it. Besides, I really doubt you can use it all up, unless your a professional computer builder or something. 🙂
