My old faithful 94 Chevy with 200K miles on it had the steering rack fail :( Now I could have fixed it but I decided to sink the money into a new car cause I need reliable and the ole one just has too many yrs and miles.

Narrowed it down to 2
Brand new Versa cause I'm a peak oil believer and the interior is more than large enough to fit 4 I have a Windstar minivan for when I need to haul the fam and crap.

Chev Malibu 2004 with 50K miles was 6G cheaper than the Versa, rode better, quieter, more oohmph V6, more standard stuff , better gas mileage than the Corsica .

Me and the wife changed our mind 10X over the course of the day and between test driving and the boy's hockey tournament today was go go.
Finally settled on the Versa cause not if but when gas goes up the Versa is future proofed and the kids will be driving in 10 yrs and I can give it to them and it should have lots of miles in it still for them to have where the Malibut would be done in about 8 or 9

Now just to sit back and let the buyer remorse set in ahhhhh
There it is ;)

I came within 5 minutes of buying a Versa myself. It's a pretty roomy car for the $$$, but our salesman sucked, so I with with a Scion instead.

They're pretty decent, but to get the cool stuff you have to add another $4000 to the base price which was a turn off. Just seemed the Scion got more bang for the buck + 4 MPG more :)

we test drove a Saturn Vue Hybrid today, it is pretty sweet

when you stop at a light, the engine shuts off, if you turn off the fan and radio the car is totally silent, it is freaky

They don't sell Scion's in Canada just Yaris''s
Yuck, poorer crash test, center instrument gauges? less interior space
Better gas mileage tho!

The center instrument thing is catching on. I'm actually starting to prefer it as you don't have to look down to see your gauges anymore.

It's a smaller car (the xA), but for $15000 has a better stereo, better options, and better MPG. I would have had to pay $17500 on the Versa to get the same thing.

The Versa rides a bit better though. Feels like a big car, but less head room.

I'd go for the Malibu (actually, I'd try for a Malibu Maxx). It's a fairly reliable car and rather spacious.
