Bought new router, drops connection

I keep having to restart the router to get bytes sent to my computer. If its directly connected, it is fine, but if it is wireless, the connection is dropped x1000000. What can I do to fix this? I mean I'm two floors away from my router, and I have good connection, but it won't let me visit any sites, talk on AIM, etc.. What can I do? Should I just get a better router?

I doubt that "better" Router would help.

Its not like it keeps saying "not connected." It says its connected. Its sending packets. Its not recieving anything. Like I left and it turned off, I come back and it sent 16k and kept moving and stopped recieving at 11k. The numbers have nothing to do with it, its just for reference. I doubt its because of the distance because my older 3 year old model Netgear MR814v2 kept a connection even at "Low" signal. I am getting "good", "great", and "excellent" and it still doesn't hold the connection. It says its still connected but completely disregards it.

I had the same router with same problem. I fixed the problem by buying a Linksys router.

Well, I am getting a new router tomorrow. So I really don't care about this one anymore.
