Bought my X1000

I ordered a Compaq Presario X1000 yesterday, very excited to get it! Specs:

1.5 ghz
128 (will add 512)
DVD/CD-RW
MS Works, Money, Encarta (have Office waiting)
802.11b WLAN + Bluetooth
WSXGA+
64 MB Radeon 9200
40 GB
XP Home

Cost me $1255 (after I get my $100 MIR and 2% Fatwallet discount)without the extra RAM. Im gonna buy cheap RAM, I've found a 512 SODIMM for $87 shipped, with lifetime warranty, so probably will use that.

Lemme know what you guys think. I will post a review of it, if anyone wants me to.

Me like...
I am thinking about ordering one real similar to that but instead with a 1.7 and 512 ram. Although I want to wait to see what they are going to do with the Radeon 9600 Mobility. If they dont have anything within the next month, no more waiting...when You get that let us know everything about it man!

Yeah do post a review. And do a comparison with the T40 and 600m if you can (it'll act as a point of reference for the rest of us since everyone in this forum seems to be a T40 or 600m fan).

I'm going to be refusing shipping on this lappy. I just ordered the Dell 5150. 3.06 ghz P4M, 512 mb RAM, 802.11b/g, 40 gb HD, 64 mb Radeon 9000, 15 " SXGA+ for $1427 after $300 MIR. It's like $60 more than what I was paying for the Compaq(including the extra RAM), and I'm going to be getting a 3.06. This is really annoying though, because now I'm going to be returning a laptop and RAM. I'm kinda stressed over it, but I'll be very happy with myself in a few weeks, when I'm in college with my monster laptop that I paid less than $1500 for!

Keep in mind though that the 1.5ghz on the Compaq is a Pentium-M, and thus it is much faster than a desktop processor of comparable speeds.

Not as fast as the 3.06ghz, but MUCH less hot with much longer battery life.

Shipping schedules are not what they advertised...Buyer Beware. Make sure you've got lots of patience (unlike me) 😉

If you're talking about hte X1000. Theres 5% student discount, then thers the SV7095 coupon code for 10% off. Then if you want 2% discoutn from fatwallet.

I find it extremely difficult to believe that the P4M would give u 4 hrs. Do a review once you get the machine and tell us 'bout it. Dell has a thing 'bout stretching the truth to the extreme boundaries that they legally are allowed to. However, you didn't mention the battery capacity of ur machine. But Kwh for Kwh, definitely the PM machine (unless the vendor, Compaq, is really really slack) would beat the P4m for hours.

there are keyboard issues. read on x1000forums.com
A lot of people, including myself are having problems with shift key.
It's not major, but make sure you read up. Check yourself before your wreck yourself 😉
