Bought my first SSD

Linflas

I ordered this OCZ Vertex 2 OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G from Newegg today. I have read the great info sticky and really have just 1 question: Are there any cooling issues with them I need to be aware of? I ask because I notice that sometimes after having some of my no name thumb drives plugged in for a while they tend to be somewhat warm to the touch.

Wow... those 2 things are completely unrelated.

No, I've never heard of cooling issues with any SSD that was properly installed.

Warm to the touch is fine, you're powering memory for extended periods.

As for internal SSDs no, I'm sure they can go upwards of 80c before anything happens. If even... Pop it into a spare 2.5" drive bay or a 3.5" bay with an adapter and enjoy the benefits.

Well to be honest I really haven't been following the underlying technology of these things and while I understand there are a lot of differences I guess I just assumed that the flash memory in them is similar to that in the thumb drives. Been a while since I have spent more than $120.00 on a drive, you get spoiled when you can stick 4 2TB Hitachi drives in a NAS for under $400.00. 😉
