I seem to have misplaced my camera....otherwise there'd be more pictures.

Its a 2006 Suzuki S40, 4,500 miles, and I got it for $1,300....tip top shape (with receipts), with a small ding in the gas can, but no worries.

I am fairly impressed by how well it rides, I test rode a handful of bikes, but this one felt the best for someone with only experience on a 50cc scooter, imo.

You bought a sensible bike for your first bike? And you post on ATG about it?

Son, I am disappoint.

Seriously, though. It's a good ride for a first bike. Now the clock starts counting down on how long you'll wait before you upgrade. :p

I hope you've got propah riding gear, and not riding around in shorts n flip flops.

Great first bike! I had a boulevard s50 for awhile, it was probably the best cruiser I've owned.

A couple of tips.. You should park a bit closer to the front of the space. Drunks and idiots come flying into spaces and will mow that over before they even know it was there. Also, you always want to park where the bike leans down onto the kickstand.. In other words, if your space is at an angle you want all of the weight on the kickstand.

the only thing I don't have is pants. Everything else i've got. There isn't much left of the riding season here anyway, which is probably why i scored a deal on this. I will probably upgrade eventually, but seriously for the price I think I will be good for a while...

good first bike. Looks great.

as others said after a season of riding you will want something bigger but you will have the experience to get it.

Hey HybridSquirrel. Lost your email, found you here. Here's the pic of the S40 turbo kit you were asking about. Should bolt right up.....

:)

I would rather just NOS it...

again you need to sell me the STi because it would be garaged

I got my garage taken away from me because the apartments are doing repairs on them this winter :(

Congratulations!

Just in case you are thinking about a winter project:

RYCA Motors S40 Custom Kit

Best of luck,
Uno

I actually saw that, but eh. Removing the rear seat makes it looks pretty sweet though...

Wow. I'm kind of surprised. I came in expecting 600cc or more sport bike. Great first bike and a smart choice by a new rider.

So many people new to the sport don't realize it's their first bike not their last.

I looked at getting a ninja 250, but it felt like it was pretty guttless and you had to ring it out to get any power out of it. This thing feels really good putsing around traffic, and it was able to feel decent on the highway, albeit a little underpowered at 75. I don't need to be going that fast when I commute to work anyway.

Besides my car is pretty fast and "sporty", I didn't want a fast sports bike...

Looks great. I've long debated pulling the plug and getting my motorcycle license. I can't afford the insurance on one though.

The reason motorcycle insurance is so cheap is because when you die, they don't have to pay you.

being 25+ makes a world of difference.

i was paying $1100/yr for mine. now that i'm 25, i pay $400/yr. and that's for full coverage on a 600cc sportbike.

He could ride that for as long as he feels like and sell it for $1,300 easily... maybe more if he keeps it in good shape.

He could cafe it out too. Those are great bikes to do this to.

I was quoted $1200/yr and I'm 27. Guess because they're afraid of new riders. Auto insurance is insanely expensive in Ontario. No real reason for it, just pure gouging because there's not much competition.

Oh, and that was for a Piaggio Fly 150 scooter for commuting.

I pay less than $500/year for full coverage on an 1100cc Ducati.

Being older has certain benefits. ;)

thats a bummer :( I took two safety classes for it, so I definitely got a discount on insurance. that seems really steep though...

I used to have a cheap ass tao tao scooter, that thing was actually pretty well build.
