Believe the G3 fits the OS X requirements (although, it is the minimum supported processor), but the ram would likely need to be increased to 256MB.

Always wanted a mac to play with but they've always been too expensive. Finally found one I could afford. The plan is to put in a spare IDE hard drive and cd-burner as well as some old sdram and install OS X. Hopefully it'll all be compatible.

Dude, congrats. Good price for that machine. Just max out the ram (would be a good idea, and cheap) then get the newest OS X version. And if you ever found one of the cpu upgrades for a good price, then it wouldn't be too bad of a system.

what can the processors be upgraded to? I will probably just max out the ram. it's amazing what a little extra ram can do. got XP running smoothly on a P2 266mhz laptop which I upgraded to 256mb. just had to disable a bunch of useless services. hopefully this will be no different.
