That print out is your receipt. You can go to networksolutions.com and perform a whois, if you want. If you didn't get an anonymizer for that information, your name should be up there for all to see. 🙂

eek, i wanted to stay anonymous once i had developed my site,
do i need to buy an anonymous service to hide myself now?

also i have just created a page on yahoo. how do you use the domain that i just bought in conjunction with my yahoo page.

i mean my ultimate goal is i type in www.foo.com/foo and it goes to my site at geocities.yahoo.com/foobar/foobar.html

To be anonymous, you have to pay extra to be private. Depends on who your registrar was but for godaddy.com (a popular one), you would go to domain names --> make private. It should be $10/yr extra or thereabout.

About the redirection, use the URL Forwarding, also set in the menus of your registrar's site.

1. Wait few days and your info would appear on WhoIs once it is there with the correct info you it is your and you can ask the "Daddy" to anonymize your account.

2. I am not familiar with Godaddy but they probably provide a domain controller for you, so you can control your domain.

3. Hosting services are as cheap as $1.50 a month (it is not considered cool to host a real site on yahoo public space).

4. If you do want to stay with the yahoo space you can use a DNS service to redirect you personal domain name to your current yahoo space.

This page was written for another purpose but it has some info concerning these issues.

thanks for the advice, i am toying with a website at the moment, i am looking for a good webhost to host my site once my site is done to an extent.

when i go for a paid host, won't godaddy be redirecting or forwarding requests for my page to the webhost that i will go for

Correct.

When you choose a web host they will provide you with two DNS name servers (like this):
ns1.askross.com
ns2.askross.com

Whenever people go to your domain.com it re-directs automatically to your web host.

What's your budget for web hosting?

15-20 dollars for the year
know any good webhosts?
if i buy 2 or 5 years worth of webhostin, will i get a discount from some web hosts?

Why? As long as they allow you to upgrade the service if you need to, I don't see a problem with it.

I pay yearly for bateluer.com, but its a fairly stripped down hosting plan. 100MB, 2GB/month of bandwidth, 10 POP3 email address.

What if you webhost starts to suck next year? Or the year after? Or they go under? 😉

any host which would provide services at 15-20 dollars a year or a bit more. i checked out the sites and looked at more like 20 dollars for a year

If you want a web host that is CHEAP then check out DreamHost.com.

That's all I'm going to say about them 🙂 Use them at your own risk.
