ok it should arrive sometime next week... anyways it cost me 0$ and dont ask me how and stuff cus its a very long story...

neways i got the evga 7800gsCO b/c thats what i was limited to as the person footing my bill limited me to 400 bucks and with a 80-90+ psu for my shuttle, I got just the CO addition... now if i flash that with a 7800gsCO SC bios, it will keep the clocks at that high and i basically get a out of the box 7800gs CO SC... as far as im concerned and aware of, therse no arcitectural difference just cherry picked cores... so this should work right?

feed back appreciated...

also a link to a 7800gsco SC bios would be nice as im gonna flash it after i test with a manual overclock to see how high it would go... i just dont wanna hassle with having to OC everytime i boot up =)

Rivatuner has an option that automatically sets overclocks, but I personally like flashing my cards to their stable clocks. :)

I have an Athlon 2500+, Asus A7N8X deluxe MB, and 1 GB of 2700 DDR and I'm running a 9700.

I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card...although I wonder if the rest of my system is too far behind the times to justify a 7800GS.

What do you guys think? Will my system be able to keep up in modern games w/ a 7800GS or will my processor/MB be the "weakest link" and drag overall performance down?

xp 2500 "barton" are good OCer's and with your current board, you should have no problems running it @xp 3200 speeds...that will help keep up with 7800gs.

edit: nvm, i just realized your OC is probably going to be limited by your RAM (pc2700)

Thanks for the input... I have been thinking about doing a whole new system based on an Opteron 165 or 170, but I'd rather wait another year if I can. In a month or two maybe I'll buy a used 6800GT or something.
