Bought Microsoft Office 2010 (3 user pack) needing some answers coming from a newbie

Ok, just bought Windows office 2010 (3 user pack) and already installed the 1st of 3 user licenses in my current rig (see sig on 1st rig) and will be more likely be replacing the motherboard with another motherboard and still keeping everything intact. Would replacing the board and reinstalling office on the same system cause me to actually use the 2nd user license and lose out on the 1st one that I installed, leaving me with only 1 more license?

My experience with an Office 3-user pack was that it installed and activated quite a few times after rebuilds/reinstalls without issue. Eventually it whined at me when I tried to activate (after a couple of years) that it had been installed too many times. After a chat with a friendly Microsoft phoneline I was activated, and they seem to have reset my activation count, because last time I tried (recently) it activated without any questions at all.

In other words, it's pretty lax and they're not too worried so long as you're not silly with it.

dude they know when you swap out a mobo - it's obvious the hard drive has a serial #. this isn't technet 🙂 its not a big deal. hard drive serial # matches and most of the rest match - mobo's go bad - or are not compatible. they aren't nazi's on that.

now if they see 3 machines online at the same time with similar hard drive serial #'s and mobo's - you might to be doing some explaining. they can tell if you are cheating - they can tell if you are not.

Microsoft just doesn't really go after anyone but the big thieves (technet stealers, and straight up pir8's for profit). They will crush you into the ground if you do sell their product illegally. but you are not.

so don't sweat it! Microsoft doesn't want you to go to Apple or Open Office when they got you hooked on meth/ i mean windows/office.
