Bought an OEM Raptor & deleted the partition that was on it already...

I put together my system & got it to run & boot from CD, but I wanted a totally fresh install of Windows. When I initially tried to delete the partition & format the drive, it just stuck in the format so I just powered down the PC. Now when I try to boot from my Windows CD it says error loading OS...?

I spoke to someone about it & they said I need to go to the WD website & get the utilities CD for the Raptor (download it & copy or burn it). I was told this would solve the problem, but I am hoping I don't need to do this & could fix the problem right now since I have no CD-R's & no floppy drive on my new rig. Anyone have a good answer?

You probably have the hard drive set first in the BIOS for boot priority. Make sure the CD drive is set first in the boot order.

The utility is probably wipe.exe or zap.com. The system thinks there is a partition on the drive and it therefor trying to boot off it (because of the partial format). You need to wipe the drive and start the partition/format process again.

Now that I think about it the utility you need to DL from WD is called WDCLEAR.EXE.

Wipe.exe and zap.com are ibm utilities but they both work the same.

Oh that's right....lmao
I forgot I cleared the CMOS earlier and didn't put the CD-ROM as boot 1...n00b!!!!!!

Well I am messing with my RAM because Windows take forever just to load into format screen right now....How does 167Mhz sound for my memory clock? I should probably adjust my memory setting to suit these Patriot XBL sticks huh? Any tips for me?
