well I orderd an AIW x800 XT and the website shipped me a x850 XT Platinum Edition card instead. I orded an AGP model, and they still sent me the 850 with AGP bus, so thats ok. This means I can still keep this card. Right now i have a Geforce 2 MX, from a friends, because my GF4 ti 4600 blew up. So of course either would be a HUGE upgrade. I wanted to know others opinions on what I should do, keep the card they gave me and lose the TV tuner feature/ remote, that I need, or sell it and buy the original equipment I wanted? any suggestions would be awesome

are you really going to send it back? c'mon man whats wrong with you? the super honest thing would be to send it back butI would keep it. its not like you are doing an RMA on an item you broke and are trying to get a free ride. KEEP IT

Well, you did say that you needed TV tuner functionality, so I would either send it back for the AIW card, or keep the 850 and buy a nice, hardware encoding TV tuner card like the Hauppauge PVR-150 (if you have the extra $$ handy).

Well if you ordered an AIW and got a faster, non-AIW card, you might be upset. It's not like there's no downside and this guy is just thinking about giving it back out of generosity. I've never been a fan of AIW because you can generally get the same functionality on a seperate card, and thus don't lose it when you upgrade your video card. You'll lose 10-15% in gaming performance, but since your current card was already slow when it came out like 5 years ago, don't worry about it. Check what x850xt pe's are going for on ebay, if it's more than you paid, sell it, if not return it. Slightly unethical, but perfectly legal.

You got the second fastest single card available, and you wanna do what? Return it? You gotta be kidding. I'll keep the beast without second thought, and get a separate tv tuner card. Or, you can always sell it and get more than your money's worth...

I like my AIW X800XT, so far its worked great and has done the basic functions rather well. BeyondTV even added AIW support with its latest patch! HOWEVER if you have the cash, just buy the 90 dollar PVR-150 and have the best of both worlds. Better pic qual and less strain on the vid card.

Did you order it during the rebate deal? If so I'd be pissed if they screwed up my order and then I was denied my rebate because of it. If you didn't get in on the ~$270 rebate deal and paid full price for it, you overpaid and it's a more worthwhile investment to keep the X850 XT PE in my opinion.

Are you actually using the remote to watch TV on this computer in a Home Theatre setting? If not I wouldn't make the remote a key component because remotes are overrated unless you are actually sitting on a couch watching TV from your computer.

That right there is logic speaking. Just buy the seperate TV Tuner. Next time u upgrade u can sell both for more than what the single AiW card would be worth.

Yep, AIW is the devil (I have owned 3). They really crimp your style when it comes to upgrading :)

The aforementioned Haupauge appears to be an excellent choice.

I am never ever ever getting a AIW again, to much of a pain to update drivers for me. It always seamed like I had to spend 30-40 minutes after an update to getting it to work like it did before. My dad has a completely different reason. He went form a 754 A64 with a 9800 AIW and wanted to go socket 939 but had to go with the Neo2 because he owuld have had to purchase a new video card and tuner since the 800 AIW wasn't ou yet. He is never ever going to sitck himself in that kind of situation again he already learned his lesson with onboard SCSI. Get the Huapapage much better solution.

Why not just call them up and explain the mixup? Say you would be happy to keep the card but are willing to RMA it if they ask you to do so.

So now. You paid 373.00 for an AIW X800XT. Got a X850XTPE instead. Now you have no tuner. So now your initial intended spending of 373.00 is out the window because now you have to purchase a TV tuner card. You'll end up spending 425.00 total anyway. I would return it and get what you paid for and what you wanted. The X800XT is fast enough where you will not notice any difference going to a X850XTPE.

But, it's up to you. Your money.

I agree with youfor the most part but not tying your future vid card purchases into a single manufacturer and be severly limited on GPU choices with in that one manufacturer is one of the greatest things a person can ask for. Even if he spends a little more then the 425 I think it would be worth it to get a seperate tuner.

You definately have a point there. I myself would prefer separate TV tuner/Vid card for upgradability purposes.
