Doesn't sound like a bad buy, so long as you know the limitations of the platform. I'm thinking a version of Linux might be a better fit than Vista, but that's just me.

than the Atom CPUs that usually comes with 10.1" netbooks?

Personally I prefer the 13" laptops with low voltage CPU's. Middle ground between the netbooks and the bigger laptops.

its definately a good buy, if you dont like it, you can resell it for easily what you paid. the screen resolution is better than the standard netbook. comes with 2gb ram, where as the standard netbook you have to self upgrade to 2gb.

most free win 7 updates were only for a certain period.

We at asus had this deal with our laptops from september 2009 until february 2010. That means if u needed to register the win 7 update deal before the end of february not only buy the laptop before february but also apply for the update.

I would recommend installing win 7 on the laptop if u buy it. As vista is to demanding for the specs.

Much faster, only downfall is the 3cell but its still a sweet deal for a 11.6" netbook with a culv cpu.
