Bought a PS2 last night at 12:01

I was really excited after waiting 6 hours in line at Wal-Mart. With the PS2 I also picked up R2R: R2, Madden, and SSX.

I am unimpressed people! Madden has jaggies and the field looks really small. Players are also small and scrunchy (WTH?). I maybe had to high of expectations, but this game doesn't do anything graphically or gameplay wise for me.

SSX also has some jaggies (not to bad), but worse off, it has some slowdows in certain areas (again, not REAL bad, but I noticed it). This game is ok I suppose, just not really my thing. Fun for awhile, but then definately gets boring.

R2R: R2 is GREAT! I loved this game, but I hear I can get this on the DC also, so I'm wondering, why have a PS2?

I'm selling my PS2, extra Madcatz controller, S-Video cable, Madden, SSX, & Ready 2 Rumble: Round 2 if anyone is interested.

A friend of mine bought it last night, one person who wasn't gonna be able to get one offered him $2000 for it! Just the system, not any games! I can't beleive he didn't take that offer.
 
I would have said 2200 cash and its yours! And go buy a GeForce2 Ultra w/ 64MB ram a 1.2GHz Athlon and Gig of ram!

OMG! I saw on some online auctions the things going for a grand. And that was last night. Personally, I can wait. Computer games are always better than consoles.

What kills me, is that some people are buying it cuz they think its faster than a pc from the statement that it will &quot;be faster than a Plll&quot; that was made like a year ago.... Yeah maybe its faster than the Pllls' were back THEN, but not now!!! People are lame!!
 
I saw Madden on the PSX2 at Best Buy display before the idiots starting lining up to buy the things yesterday. It looked pretty nice, but not overly impressive. NFL2K on the Dreamcast was certainly competitive visually, if not quite as nice.
 
I'm going over to my friend's house tomorrow who got it this morning (he had it on reserve). If I like it and the DVD quality is up to snuff, I might get it. You can't beat $299 for a nice gaming machine and DVD player...of course I would wait till later on when it is more readily available.

to program for the PS2 programmers basically have to relearn everything.

NONE OF THE GRAPHICS engines are full speed yet... I am sure that they have lots of performance to trick out yet.
 
my friend just got the ps2 but he had no money to buy any ps2 games yet so we pop in a old psx game(ff8) and i must admit it looks nice on the ps2.so i too im going to get the ps2 only cause my psx just broke down couple of days ago so mine as well buy the ps2🙂
 
Just my opinion, but the PS2 has to be one of the most over-hyped products of all time. With all the attention it's getting, you would think they just came out with a car that runs on tap water. Even a lot of the reviews for the games are average (reportedly slowdown in UT and NHL 2001). Not to mention they did not include 4 controller ports, again. I just don't understand why people can't wait till the games get better and only pay $300 or less for it.

You could always save some money and buy a PS emulator for the DreamCast or PC 🙂

A Dreamcast that plays Playstation games? Oh Yes 🙂
